New York Yankees
As a former Boston fan and now a Yankees convert..YEAH big step for me....what happened to them last year? My fav player Hidecki Matsui...don't know if I spelled that right. He is hitting good this year already! No respect left for Rodriguez...not just the steroid/pill thing his lifestyle leaves little to be desired and I think he is full of himself..always has been. Needs to take some lessons on life from Derek, right?

There goes the definition of unpredictable...to say nothing of frightening! A Red Sox fan who didn't just switch loyalties, but switched 'em to that team from The Bronx.
Here's hoping you've got good, strong family ties.

Sure, they've got a great tradition. That doesn't mean everybody likes them. Yankee fans will have plenty to think about this season besides their new playpen, what with the A-Rod distraction and all. But first things first; they've got to get through this season. Everyone's tied for first place going in, but let's see what it all looks like come August.

As you can see from other postings, I am not a Yankee fan. But I'll give them credit for this: A-Rod going in for that surgery, and missing several months of the season, was so perfectly timed, you have to think that it was more than just coincidence. Rather, I tend to suspect that the Yankee front office made the surgery decision for him. Get him out of the spotlight, and when he comes back, it won't be as the poster boy for steroids, it'll be as the savior coming to rescue his struggling club from the possibility of a Red Sox division title. Mark my words. The Yankee publicity machine is the most finely tuned instrument in all of professional sports...and possibly beyond.

I suspect ARod will be back by June 1st, but what his surgery will do is allow other story lines to emerge. and that's a good thing for everyone. I'm tired of hearing ARod this and ARod that.
As a Red Sox homer, I hope you're right Fred about the Sox being in 1st place.

Oh so am I, and I hated when during the playoffs in '07 the media and TV announcers dragged the Joe Torre situation to ridiculuous lengths whereas anything else, such as the Rockies 20+ game winning streak was second fiddle.

Red Sox will have their own injury plagued guys to worry about.I hate to say it but i've never had the connection to the team as I did when Tino and O'neill were on it but i'm still a die-hard fan and when I hear about all the ARod talk I hate it.Jeter is still the face of the team and since ARod came along we haven't won.He puts up stats mostly at times when they're not needed like when we're up by 10 or losing by 15. Who needs a solo homerun then?

Were you really a real Red SOx fan though? I just could never fathom rooting for the Yankees. It's not like you switched to the Mets, you went to a rival and in one of the most fierce rivalries in all of sports.

You noticed that too? (My Mets used to have a rather casual outfielder by the name of Darryl Strawberry. That was his M.O., as well. The year he hit 37 home runs for the Amazin's, no fewer than 23 came in situations where they didn't affect the outcome of the game).
The correct way to deal with production like that is to let the bum go. In Strawberry's case, he started whining that the fans didn't appreciate him--which wasn't true; the fans didn't appreciate his lack of production, but never lost hope that he might live up to his potential--then insisting that the Mets were a racist organization. So they let him flee to L.A., where as every Met fan knew, he was incapable of performing in his hometown.
The Yankees, who also had some adventures with Mr. Strawberry, as I recall, should learn from history and treat Alex Rodriguez accordingly. They won't...but they should.
