Do You Know How To Score Baseball?
I have played baseball my whole life, from 6yrs old to 4yrs of varsity. I can remember the days when the Brewers sucked and they would only draw 4,000 to a game. I used to bring my headphones and my score book, I would score the game and listen to Bob Uecker on my headphones. So I started to think, I forgot how to score baseball so I bought a score book and officially became a baseball nerd and I have started scoring Brewers games. My wife thinks I have lost my mind. Do you know how to score baseball and do you?

I know most of it, but it would be between yes and no. I don't really know how to score a catchers interference call or a dropped third strike.

yes, although I haven't kept score since the last time I was at a live game (2006), and Orange that one of the reasons I love baseball so much, there's always something that happens during the course of a game or a series that makes you wonder how to score it.
But a dropped 3rd strike is a "k" and the batter stole 1st base.
I think catchers interference goes down as an e2 (error on position #2) but I may be wrong about that.

i know the basics, but rarely use it
i used to enjoy sitting at the park and working out what I knew of the scorecard
now i'm more lazy and just look at the scoreboard
i think I want to practice up again ..... i may be one of the few who like to go to a game by myself, have a beer and just take in the game - relaxes me a bit and let's my mind do it's thing

A dropped third strike where the hitter reaches first DOES NOT go down as a stolen base. It is either going to be a wild pitch or a passed ball (or a throwing error/fielding error if there is a thrown down to first that is not converted). A stolen base is never credited for first since there has to be some sort of deficiency by the defense to get to this scenario in the first place.
Catcher's interference is scored as an error on the catcher.

I used to keep score a lot but i dont do it much anymore. Sometimes i just like to relax, conversate and have a beer and watch the game. Its cool to have some saved scorecards also too though, especially when they turn out to be memorable games.
There is no one single way to score a game. There are plenty of different styles but they all have the same principles. For instance, some people do a backwards K for called strikeouts while some do not. Some people use lines going around the mini diamond to show batter/runner movement while others use little bars to signify single/double/triple/home run and numbers to show following runner movement.

doh't you're right g-man, I don't know why I always thought it was a stolen base for the hitter , but looking it up everything I'm reading seems to agree with what you wrote above.

I can keep a scorecard, but I almost never do. When I'm watching a ballgame, I just prefer to watch the game!
