The AZ Dragons would be awesome - and no sports team is using it that I know.

I think Japan has that one.

Dragons would certainly be an interesting possibility. And that would definitely make for a great looking uniform design. But tell me...what have dragons got to do with Arizona?

Nothing, but it's a cool name, and what difference does it really make? What do 'Reds' have to do with Cincinnati, or 'Pirates' with Pittsburg?

Dayton Dragons, the Reds' minor league team.

Now, 'Dayton Dragons' has absolutely no poetic sensibility to it, and it probably is affecting their play, so I suggest that we swap names - the 'Arizona Dragons', and the 'Dayton Diamondbacks' - it's win-win!

If I had the authority to change things, I'd make all of our sports teams have the same color scheme, like Pittsburgh.

I think that's cool.

Reds derives from Red Stockings, their original name in the 1800's. The name came from their predominant uniform feature at the time, their redstockings. Of course, the name has nothing to do with the city of Cincinnati, but suggesting it SHOULD be geographically relevant is moronic. Par for the course in this thread....

I tend to agree with your summation, although I hasten to point out that the word "fan" derives from "fanatic." Therefore, we shouldn't expect much rationality.

Hmmm... 'Arizona Fanatics' - has a certain ring to it!
