Jonathan Sanchez Pitches A No Hitter!
How about that 2nd out in the ninth. Rowand's leaping catch at the wall to save the no hitter!

Great story about Sanchez. His dad was in the seats watching him as it happened.

I watched the game, what really stood out was the pitch calling of veteran backup catcher Eli Whiteside.
He knew that Sanchez has a history of getting hit around when batters get their second and third look at his good stuff, so he basically made him a "different" pitcher each at bat. First time through the order it was practically all fastballs, and the second time it was mostly offspeed and breaking stuff but challenging the batters in the strike zone. Third time through, he was mixing the location off the plate a bit, figuring that the San Diego batters would be pressing to break up the no hitter and starting to chase bad pitches.
He was right.

I'm extremely disappointed. I fell asleep sometime during the third inning and missed the whole thing.
BTW, that Giants pitching staff is looking better and better every day.

It was a last second call because Randy went to 15 day DL.

My heart skiped a beat I thought I've read "Johan Santana pitches a no hitter!" Great job, none the less.
