Pete Rose - Should He Be Reinstated and In the Hall of Fame ?
Bud Selig is considering the re-instatement of Pete Rose.
I think he should, and that Pete belongs in the Hall of Fame.

He should be given the recognition for his amazing career as a player.

nope keep him out, people are all up in arms about steriods, what Rose did was 1000 times worse.
I liked him as a player, But he bet against his own team (or potentially could have) that = a lifetime ban which he agreed to.

I think the Positives out weigh the Negatives so I think he should be reinstated and go to the HOF.

It doesn't matter any longer. If the ban is lifted and Rose is elected to the hall, the induction ceremony will not have the feel of a normal one, it will have the feel of a controversy. The focus will not be on Rose achievements so much as it will be about whether or not the ban should have been lifted. Leading up to the ceremony there will be endless media speculation as to whether or not Rose mentions the gambling in his speech and what he needs to say about it and so forth. After the speech there will be endless analysis of whether whatever he said was sufficient an apology, indicated bitterness...whatever.
In short, it won't be anything like the pure honor which Rose probably dreamed about his entire life. It will be more of a "Okay, let's hold our noses and finally let this guy have his day."
A tainted honor for a man who tainted his honor.

I risk the ire of my buddies on the west side of Cincinnati by saying ... no. He showed major league baseball exactly what he thought of its rules and customs. Baseball needs to continue to show Rose what it thinks of his contempt for its rules and customs.

Provide proof that he bet against his own team. Not you or Bart Giamati or anyone else has EVER been able to do it because its not there to prove. If we have wife beaters and drunks in the hall why not the greatest hitter?

People weren't logging into bodog back then to place bets, so I'm not sure what kind of paper trail could be produced.
As far as my opinion...sure let him in, why not. The HOF is a made up thing frat that has some serious clowns voting in regards to who should be let it in to their "brotherhood." To me, it's a non-story, or to put it another way, something ESPN would focus on.

If what Rose did is 1000 times worse. Then the ones that used HGH Steriods etc should be a million times worse they cheated the game more than he ever did.
