Yea that completely overshadows 4 world series titles, 6 appearances and the fact he's one of the winningest managers ever.
I'm not saying Torre's a bad manager, but I think the results would be different if he was managing the Brewers or the Rangers rather than the Yankees all those years.

Isn't it funny how Torres' past doesn't matter or mean a thing, but for the team you support the past is a predicter of the future?

Either way, no matter what, there's something to be said about winning 3 titles in 4 years and 12 straight division titles regardless of how fat your payroll is. They had a fat payroll before and couldn't win and the year after he left they missed the playoffs for the first time since in 13 years. That says something about Torre and to call him a "joke" is one of the most uninformed possibly ever said on this site.

I said he will only be joke if he loses to the Phillies again in the NLCS

So losing 2 consecutive NLCS to a great team with a team that doesn't deserve to be there completely overshadows one of the greatest managerial careers in baseball history
Yanks haven't even played, yet. ^^^ And we all know how the Angels give the Yanks fits in the post-season. I still think it will be Dodgers and Yanks. Lets just wait and see.
List of MLB managers who have managed their teams to a playoff appearance every year from 2000-2009:
1) Joe Torre
Good post, CHIP. Many people forget that, and that is not an easy accomplishment when you look at baseball's long seasons. Ask Atlanta's Bobby Cox.
