Go Phillies.
I want to see Lee and Sabathia pitch against each other in the same game.
Then all us Ohio people can see the talent the Indians are incapable of retaining at the same time.
Cleveland gets em, grows em, and gives em away.
Anyhow, I want to see Philly win it all. I want to see old laid back, hillbilly, Charlie Manuel show Cleveland he can still manage a baseball team.
And I have never liked the Yanks and their big money teams.
Phillies in 6.
Well, all I can say is "PHEW!"
If there were words to express my utter relief that we will not be subject to Torre -- and the Mediots relentlessly slobbering all over him and his gross overratedness -- I'd type them.
As far as boring, methinks those crazy umpires may have other ideas... their shenanigans apparently know no bounds. Hold onto your seatbelts, fans.
Yeah, the whole 2009 season was a little boring - the Mets choked in June and July instead of September this year.
The Jeff and Omar run Mets finally found something they're good at and they're gonna run with it for as long as they can. In 2010 they'll fall out of contention in April. In 2011 they'll actually forget to report to Spring Training.
Incidentally, my apologies to the Mets fans who are perfectly fine on here (BringTheContent and Fred314X) for my snide comment about the Mets above. I just have to give BergenCountyJohnny some needling.
Hey, believe me, I'm a BoSox fan and nobody hates the Yankees more than I, but sometimes, if you're a true fan of the game, you just have to give them their due. Sure, they are the "best team money can buy" but I don't think that diminishes their integrity at all--at least not that of the players. Guys like Derek Jeter and A-Rod and old-schoolers like Jorge Posada and Hideki Matsui are true professionals and love the game and give 110% all the time. Yeah, the Yankees have an astonomical payroll but Steinbrenner is just doing what alot of owners would like to do if they had the bucks.
I DO agree that it will be a boring series, though. Both teams come from cities a mere couple hundred miles from each other and the Phillies were in the Series just last year and I would guess that have few fans outside their state. What baseball needed this year was some new blood, like the Angels or Tigers or Rockies or Twins in there.
When was the last time a MLB club won the World Series for free? They all get paid, so technically they are all buying a championship.
Technically, of course, you're right. But let's face it: when you spent the off season lavishing more than $450 million on three players, that goes a little bit beyond the pale, wouldn't you say?

[And thanks for the explanation, Chip!]
I hate the Yankmes, but if your team wants to win...spend more dough. Until you see a salary cap, nothing will change.
