It's good in one way, though... The Yankees will be seen (rightly so) by everyone other than their blind fans as having simply bought the World Series and the Phillies will be beaten by the team that bought the championship. It's good tto see Philly lose that way, in a series that is purchased by the other integrity-lacking team.

Thank goodness it's NFL season, at least that's exciting!

Well the Yankees do have the highest payroll, but they actually cut their payroll from last year and guess what? The Mets have a payroll just behind the Yankees and on top of that they increased their payroll. Baseball total payroll, 2008 to 2009

I think you grossly underestimate the Phillies. I think they will win the World Series, and it might not be close.

I want to see Lee and Sabathia pitch against each other in the same game.
Then all us Ohio people can see the talent the Indians are incapable of retaining at the same time.
Cleveland gets em, grows em, and gives em away.
Anyhow, I want to see Philly win it all. I want to see old laid back, hillbilly, Charlie Manuel show Cleveland he can still manage a baseball team.
And I have never liked the Yanks and their big money teams.

"Yanks bought a championship" - what a broken record that is.

Look what buying players did for the Mets and Cubs. Not a damn thing. And I'd love to see if that same comment would apply when the Red Sox won in '04 and '07 (or in '09 if they had made it), since no one would dare say such a thing about America's sweetheart baseball team.

If the Yankees close out their series, any series vs the defending champs will be interesting. It might also answer the question: "Are the Phillies as good as they seem, considering that they were in a weak division?"

I don't think the series is a foregone conclusion by any stretch of the imagination. Both teams are titans. I can't wait.
