Because when one team starts to win they turn against another team and the two sports are completely different. Fans in Philly have now turned on the Eagles because of the Phillies success. Read the thread below posted on a Philly Messge Board
Phils Deserve Fan Loyalty; Eagles Don't
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For all the passion Birds fans give, that organization doesn't deserve it. They choke, make the same dumb mistakes over and over, get hopes up and constantly let the fans down. Oh, and zero championships in the last 49 years.
Despite a lot of losing in their history, the Phillies organization as it is currently constructed deserves all the fan loyalty in this town. They actually won a world championship and are bidding for a repeat. They get smart, productive players. When their pitching ace from last year was struggling, they went out and made a brilliant trade for an even better ace.
Not even close. The real "gold standard" in this town is the Phillies. The Eagles gold standard only exists in Lurie's vivd imagination.
One thing I do notice is that as each team you champion is eliminated, you turn your gimlet eye on a different one, as though the others were never a concern. Are you actually a fan of any team? And if so, why do you keep that team a secret from everyone else in the forum?
So I'm fascinated to know what you're going to say if the Phillies should win the World Series.
I tend to think most cities' sports fans have a few people like the guy quoted above.
Incidentally TVSG, assuming you clipped the quote above from the site I have in mind, there are many people in the ensuing thread (including me) who say the idea the Philadelphia Eagles don't deserve loyalty is ridiculous. Incidentally, I've known the guy who posted that nonsense (he goes by the monicker "dc_eaglefan") for at least 7 years on the internet (and I met him in person once) and he rarely posts anything unless he's complaining about something. He also only follows the Eagles to any significant degree (doesn't much care for baseball or I think other sports). I personally can't stand the guy.

Blah, blah, blah as someone else said in a different thread. Please stop posting. Thank you.
I think the Eagles letting go of Brian Dawkins this past offseason turned off a lot of the Eagle followers. For the past decade, he really was the heart and sole of that team.
Meanwhile, the Phillies march toward the championship!

Dawkins isn't the only ex-Eagle making a solid contribution to the Denver Broncos this year; Correll Buckhalter is proving he still has something left in the tank (not a surprise to me). Andy Reid, IMO, didn't use Buckhalter nearly enough the last 2 seasons and his lack of use was flat-out ridiculous (though it has extended his career). If the Eagles use Buckhalter more, maybe Brian Westbrook is less worn-down now.

Getting Vick didn't do much for the Eagles' image either.
