I have had the opportunity to be able to grow up watching Joe Mauer play baseball. Since going to his high school games and now to Twins games, he truly is an incredible baseball player. For those who understand the game of baseball either has avid fans or former players, Joe Mauer just has something about him that is great. This season he looks better than he ever has, and is consistanly putting up hits and getting on base. His power has finally come out too.
Can Joe Mauer be the next to .400? He is currently batting .430 but is still 40 at-bats short of being eligable. From what I am seeing this year, I think Joe can be the next to get over that .400 mark.

As Mauer continues to develop, there's no telling how good he can be. The main obstacle to his hitting .400 in my opinion is that he is a catcher, which takes a toll on the legs.
Joe Mauer was mentioned on Almanac, last night , by a sports writer named Larry Fitzgerald ( he also happens to be the dad of that outstanding reciever from the Arizona Cardinals)
Fitzgerald said Mauer continues to get better and better as his body matures and joked he could also be a Viking quarterback ( he was a great one in high school)

He is a good hitter and generally has really good batting averages. However, it's hard to get excited about someone hitting .400 in the beginning of June, when the batter doesn't even qualify at this point.
I wouldn't rule out someone doing it again, but in today's game it looks like it would be extremely difficult to do so.
I like Mauer but I don't think anyone will do it for a while if ever again.
I'm inclined to agree and mainly because of the late inning relief specialists that are so much a part of today's game. This was not the case when Ted Williams did it in 1941.
