what exactly about the Rays should scare the Yankees and Red Sox? Their pitching, their hitting? I don't think you know the team or their players.
Um
Try all of the above the Rays are loaded with talent.
there starting 5 is very good and they have some of the best young hitters in the game, you do realize they were the best team in the AL in 2008, don't you?

If you're talking to me, I can assure you I know more about the team's history as well as their present, and probably even more about their future (based on their system) than you do. I don't like to play that game, but if that's what you want to do, I will.
You're the one who started following them in March. They're two games back and you're giving up on them? And after all of those weeks of support you've given them. How will they ever recover from that?

He just started watching them. Unfortunately, this is the attitude a lot of new baseball fans have. They grab onto a team they had no interest in following until the team won something, and all of a sudden they're experts and want to set the whole organization on fire.

Holy smokes, the Red Sox Disabled list just keeps growing.
Varitek to miss 4-6 weeks with broken foot.
add him to
Victor Martinez, Dustin Pedroia, Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Lowell, Josh Beckett, Jeremy Hermida, Jed Lowrie and Manny Delcarmen.
also injured JD Drew (stiff Neck), Clay Buccholz (hyper extended knee), Mike Cameron (plays about twice a week, lower abdominal tear)
so to recap
starting catcher, backup catcher (Kevin Cash was signed yesterday)
2nd base, LF, CF, RF, 4th OF. #1 starter
It seems one team goes through this every year, last year it was the Mets.
It's amazing that they're just a game out of first place. This is a team that was declared dead by a lot of people earlier in the season... I believe I was one of those people. I won't make that mistake again. If the season ended right now, they're in the playoffs.
