If they can't win with that, too bad for them.
Don't be surprised if the Rangers make a serious bid to keep him. They have new ownership and Nolan Ryan has done a great job in the front office.

Unless they plan on keeping him against his will in a cage hidden away in Nolan Ryan's basement, they have no chance of keeping him.

I guess we'll have to see about that. I don't think it's a done deal. For one, not everbody wants to play in New York. If the Rangers do well in the playoffs it will give them an incentive to keep Lee. They've got a solid lineup and the difference this year has been the caliber of the starting pitching.

No, we won't. The Rangers will not sign him to a new contract. It's not even worth discussing.

All along Lee has said he is looking forward to "testing free agency", and it's pretty obvious what that means.

Anyone who read words like "testing free agency" and in those words sees "pitch for the Rangers again" is setting themselves up for a big disappointment. The Rangers have a lot of things going for them right now, and could even win the World Series this year. But when you look at all of the things going their way, the ability to sign Cliff Lee to a new deal is not one of them.

I've got more of wait and see attitude especially in light of the fact the Rangers are under new ownership. If the Yankees want to overpay to sign Lee then I'm all for letting him go. But if he can be had for a reasonable offer for a four year contract then the Rangers miight be in the running.

I'm Confident The Yanks will win the Division, but for Wildcard, it's not so easy, I say right now it's leaning to Tampa Bay, but Boston could overtake 'em in the end.
