Kendrick sent down to Lehigh Valley and Carpenter called up. Could this mean a trade is brewing?

That's bizare. Not that he was pitching great, but I don't think KK was pitching all that bad.

If Moyer sucks tonight, will he be sent down as well? Highly doubtful but him and Kendrick have had similar issues with consistency.
The GM was on DNL a little while ago. Didn't want to talk about the Cliff Lee debacle (he can't hit ) and says Dom Brown will not be coming up anytime soon.
It's too easy to dislike the Phillies front office, even after two years of success...

I'm not a Phillies fan but I have followed them closely though the years. They've really built up more than two years worth of success. Of course they were in the last two World Series, but that's something that almost never happens anymore. Maybe it will happen again this year. I still think we're gonna end up getting a rematch from last year when it's all said and done. This team is too good to write off, and people were writing them off for a good part of last year too. They need some help, some of which will come internally, some which will possibly come from the outside. At the end of the season they will still end up being the best team in the National League, even though the Braves see things differently right now.

Anyone following the Philadelphia media hear anything about Jayson Werth close to being traded?
The only comment I can find is Amaro saying no deal is close, but someone in New York is telling me he's on his way out and a top of the rotation starting pitcher is on his way in and there might be a corresponding move too. It's nothing but a rumor I guess until someone says they've seen something concrete about it.
There was a rumor back when the Mariners sending Cliff Lee to the Yankees seemed like a done deal that the Phillies would send Werth there too for a pitcher (Javier Vaszquez), and of course nothing materialized.
Wonder if this one could involve Houston if there's anything to it at all. If that's the case, there would almost certainly have to be another team involved too.
Edit: Adam Rubin of ESPN says Werth could end up with the Rays.

I am not a Phils fan, but as a neutral observer, this team has lacked a spark and has appeared listless all year long.
Perhaps the Rollins injury caused the sparkplug failure of this engine. Rollins is back, but the lack of energy is still apparent.
There has been concern about contracts this year---Werths deal, or lack thereof has been a constant point of contention. Its time to move him and bring up the prospect Brown.
We all like Manuel---he is an eminitely likeable pro. I cant see letting him go now---it would be too much of an indignity to this man. It wouldnt shock me if a higher energy guy like Valentine is brought in next year.

Actually the team was looking like one of the best in baseball up until late May or so. And the Phillies already tried their hand with a high energy under your skin type - his name was Larry Bowa and while he was a great player he was a failure as manager.
This is a veteran team that knows what's at stake. I'm not predicting a playoff appearance or not but they remind me of the 79 Phillies: coming off a run of 3 straight great years only to find their team of established veterans exhausted and plagued by injuries.
At this point I'm just worried Amaro will do something stupid and drastic. I will personally fly back to Philly, organize a mob and march down to CBP if they trade Dom Brown for some hit it and quit it nobody.

They're REALLY disappointing and coming up small right now. I will not make excuses for them, as tempting as it may be. Utley will be missed, but Rollins and Polanco have come back as well as Ruiz.
They are pathetic on offense right now. Rollins, Victorino, Ibanez, and Werth have been outright terrible for some time now. The team needs a spark on offense. Dom Brown could provide it, but he's still young. Not a sure thing right now, as well as he is playing in Allentown. Hell, I say bring up Mayberry to spell Vic and platoon Ibanez and Francisco in LF. The OF offensive production has been atrocious !
If Werth gets traded, it will be interesting to see who comes here. I've heard rumors that the Phillies are looking hard at bringing Oswalt, maybe by way of a three-way trade with Werth and prospects included to bolster the starting rotation. Also, Happ may be up within a few days. He was pulled after three innings last nite in Indy.
There will be a shakedown; it's only a matter of who, what, when, and where... gotta love trade deadline time I guess.

Phillies and Yankees entered the season true to form: the best teams in MLB through the first month and clearly the best teams in their respective leagues. For whatever reason, the Phillies offense took a nose-dive.
Rollins' injury followed by Polanco's first stint on the DL deflated the offense, but it's not an excuse for becoming an anemic offensive unit through the first half of the year. Werth got ice cold, Vic tried to hit bombs every at bat, and Utley had struggles swinging the bat. Ibanez has turned out to be a disaster.
They're worn out this year, but the core players are in their prime right now. No excuse to underachieve the way they have.
