Colorado lost a game 16 - 8 against the Royals who certainly are no world beaters. Colorado can't win
The Phillies look like a good bet, however in 3 games against Seattle they lost twice. In the 3 games they scored 7 runs while allowing 7 runs. Hard to argue that Philly is any better than the Mariners based on that. The Mariners certainly aren't a playoff team so Philly can't be either.
The Braves lost 11 - 2 to San Diego. Not a mark of a playoff team.
Milwaukee also got pasted by the Padres, 13 - 6. They're out.
St. Louis also got crushed by the Padres, 11 to 3.
Maybe the Padres are in. No, they lost 2 of 3 to Seattle by a combined score of 2 -9.
Maybe the AL has some good teams. The Yanks and Red Sox both look pretty good:
The Yankees are 1 - 2 against the Royals, including an 11-5 shellacking.
Boston has a losing record against both the Pirates and those pesky Padres. Not a sign of quality.
Rangers are 3-5 against...Minnesota. Including an 8-1 loss. Out!
Detroit has 15-3, 13-3, and 10-1 losses to the Mariners, Pirates and Giants. Better luck next year.
Good thing the NFL got its **** figured out. Looks like there'll be no baseball playoffs this year.

I'm not basing the Giants probably chance of sitting home for the postseason on just the loss to the Pirates...its the fact that their offense is downright anemic, and even their pitching has been mediocre at best besides Lincecum....and they will need strong pitching like last year to have any hope of going far in the playoffs...that and they'll need some semblance of an offense, not great, but they'll at least need to be able to score a few runs a game.
And then throw in the fact that I'm delighting in the Giant's downward spiral because they're a bunch of classless bums.

Game-winning HR AND 8 innings of shut out pitching? Might have a future.

This team is incredible and many times I think the bonehead fans do not deserve them. Listening to WIP can really make a person feel this way. Ryan Howard is not having a great year, but SChmidt and Luzinski had their rough years as well. Plus Howard will probably have a late season surge. He could reach 40 if he gets really hot, but realisticly he will probably hit 35. Still not bad.

WIP caters to the lowest common denominator....they get more hyped up about Eagles preseason games than they do the Phillies. And this Phillies team might just be the best Philadelphia sports team in history. Eskin, Cataldi, etc, are a bunch of knuckle draggers.

I don't care who else makes the playoffs. I subscribe to the "be careful of what you wish for" theory.

The Phils will take the next 2 and do their customary 2-out-of-3 series win. They don't sweep very many series, but that's what I like about this team....consistent winning...not streaky.
