I agree on 2012. I'm just saying the trend is down, and outside of Epstein and Beane, all other GMs' play the same games. Not a couragous bunch. That is also why MLB managers are not hired, they are recycled.

You need to include Andrew Friedman of the Rays in that group as well.

Not good....something tells me Chase's days as an everyday player could be done, at least not without a significant number of days off and occasional DL stints:
Amaro unsure about Utley's future (http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/phillies/Utley_leaving_camp_to_see_specialist.html - broken link)

This is one way for the team to get younger I guess....but its a good thing Rollins was re-signed, since Howard will be out until at least June, Utley who knows when he'll play and how often he'll be able to play, Polanco is injury prone and hurt his finger last week.....the infield is kind of a disaster right now, and the meat of the order is injured. If it wasn't for the Pence trade, the Phils would be screwed right now.....we also have to hope that Mayberry's power in a part time role last year translates into 30+ HR this year as a starter.

The rotation is still pretty good.
I projected Utley for about 4 wins this season. That's a lot, but even if he never plays I still have the Phillies about 5 games up on the rest of the division.

Highly unlikely. His .240 ISO last year was about as high as his highest in the minors. Mayberry is an average player at best.

I have concerns about Utley as well, last year he the a bunch of games to start the season and then he came back to play pretty much every game and the knee talk went away. Here we are again, after a long offseason and now it looks like different knee with same issues as the other one.
Iguodala for the Sixers has a similar knee problem except he's running up and down a basketball court every other night, maybe Utley needs more motivation to start the season or maybe there is an underlying issue we don't know about but somethings not right, these type of knee issues usually happen at the end of a season, not after an offseason.
Or maybe Utley's pain tolerance isn't what everyone thought it was.

Two games, two runs scored. I realize two games doesn't mean squat, but you hate to see what was talked about the team's biggest weakness be a problem from day one.

In fairness, and I'm a Met fan who is surprised at this NY start, Nieses' first start was against Atlanta, and although their lineup is also not terrific, he dominated them more than Santana or Dickey did. So today was not a surprise. The org and other teams based on how bad they wanted him see a Andy Petite career possible.
And the Phils have had prior trouble vs Dickey. Now if Pelfrey has a quality start Sunday, oh vey. IMO, He is holding a spot for one of the kids, be it Harvey or Wheeler, and than he is out of town.
But yes, the Phils lineup is below average, and even when Howard returns, with an ever less potent Utley, your pitching must, and can, carry you. Although I would not be floored if Nats win the divison, with Phils a WC team. They are vastly underrated. Either way, I expect BOTH to be playing in October.
