Although I never was a Yankee fan, Casey Stengel would be my pick.
They were a dynasty when he managed.
What an interesting guy he was, with his irrelevant babbling etc. Not to take anything away from Casey, because the bottom line is he did win, but I could have managed that team.
I'd have to say Joe Torre. He showed class, patience, and dignity when leaving the Yankees....not to mention the 4 rings. I'm no dodger fan, but I'm a fan of his....wish him nothing but continued success.
Favorite is tough. But I would have to say Jack McKeon because of what he did with the Marlins in 2003. He took them from 19-29 in May to winning the World Series against the Yankees as the wild card team.
I am a die-hard Cubs fan but was living in Ft. Lauderdale at the time so I also loved the Marlins. Even though he beat my Cubs, I rooted for them in the series and was so proud when they beat the Yanks.
He made great player choices and is a quiet and humble man. A real class act!
The Indians former manager, Eric Wedge, was pretty interesting.
Never saw a guy manage for so many years and just sit in the dugout twitching. Never saw a single smile in his entire tenure, and rarely saw him speak with anyone, even when I was at their facility during spring training.
