This is our year to win it all and we have the best starting pitching staff to do this.

I hope so. And I agree, the Giants have best starting staff in all of baseball.

Evolution of Lincecum | FanGraphs Baseball
by Dave Cameron

Quote:

You don’t need a best fit line to see the trend in that image. His velocity has been steadily falling since he arrived in the big leagues, and through his first three starts this year, his fastball is averaging just 91.7 MPH. He has thrown 312 pitches this year, and only three of them have topped 95. He now throws about as hard as Matt Harrison and Clayton Richard. But, this is the crazy thing – it hasn’t mattered at all.
Lincecum is no speed Freak - MLB - Yahoo! Sports
Quote:
“I’m aware my velocity wasn’t where it was,” he said. “I don’t feel like it’s anything to be scared about. I’ll just learn how to pitch better.”

Velocity matters little when you've got Lincecum's kind of stuff..

Record-3-0

IP-20

ERA-0.90

WHIP-0.80

S0-24 (1st in MLB)

Dodgers passed on Lincecum, went with Kershaw instead. Going to be long time until they live that down..

Which was the gist of the article

So did 9 other teams, so why do you feel the need to single out the Dodgers and Kershaw?

Kershaw is doing just fine if you haven't noticed. At an age when Lincecum was toying with college hitters Kershaw was the 18th rated pitcher in the major leagues in terms of WAR.

Will he ever win 2 Cy Youngs in a row? Doubtful. Will he be as good as Lincecum? Maybe not. Will he be an excellent major league pitcher. He already is.

Giants will have difficulty due to their offense.

They have decent players with one star, but the teams that advance to the World Series generally have multiple "plus" batters.

I think the Giants will fade come Summertime and win around 84 games.

Not if Sabean can pickup a power hitter before the trade deadline.

Giants need to sign Barry Bonds.

I'm thinking Joe Torre's Dodgers win the NL and play the Yankees in the WS.
