The Cardinals conclude their home stand by hosting the Chicago Cubs to a three-game series.
Chicago Cubs (38-27)
Second, National League Central Division (1.5 games behind Milwaukee Brewers)
Projected starting pitcher: Lester, Jon; LHP (7-2, 2.22 earned run average, 66 strikeouts)
Saint Louis Cardinals (36-30)
Third, National League Central Division (4.0 games behind Milwaukee Brewers)
Projected starting pitcher: Wacha, Michael; RHP (8-1, 2.47 earned run average, 67 strikeouts)
Michael Wacha (8-2) lost the decision. He allowed seven hits, allowed nine runs (eight earned) including three home runs, allowed four bases on balls, and struck out two in four innings.
Mike Mayers allowed three hits, allowed two earned runs, and struck out one in one inning.
Brett Cecil allowed three hits, allowed one earned run, allowed one base on balls, and struck out one in two innings.
John Brebbia allowed one hit, allowed one earned run, and struck out one in one inning.
2018 Regular Season: Game 67 (2018-06-15 - 19:15) - Chicago Cubs at Saint Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals produced a garbage game for their fans at Busch Stadium.
Michael Wacha has pitched well for the Cardinals. He did not show up to pitch balls for this game. He should miss his next start after a garbage appearance. He will start as the Cardinals lack quality rotation pitchers beyond him and Miles Mikolas.
Dexter Fowler, with a 0.170 batting average this season, cannot hit balls with bats as a positional player or a pinch hitter.
Harrison Bader, Jedd Gyorko, and Luke Voit did not hit balls with bats for base hits and runs batted in.
The Cardinals are on pace not to qualify for postseason play. It is time they made necessary changes to win now in order to win later.
Field Manager Mike Matheny and Hitting Coach John Mabry need to be fired. Their ignorance in the game of baseball, their disrespect for the game of baseball, and their lack of leadership limit players from producing and limits the team from winning. Bench coach Mike Schlidt would be a great interim field manager.
Players need to be traded. Primary priority players would be Brett Cecil, Dexter Fowler, Greg Holland, Bud Norris, Luke Weaver, and Kolten Wong. A secondary priority player would be Matt Carpenter.
2018 Regular Season: Game 68 (2018-06-16 - 19:15) - Chicago Cubs at Saint Louis Cardinals
Chicago Cubs (39-27)
Second, National League Central Division (1.5 games behind Milwaukee Brewers)
Projected starting pitcher: Hendricks, Kyle; RHP (4-6, 3.48 earned run average, 61 strikeouts)
Saint Louis Cardinals (36-31)
Third, National League Central Division (5.0 games behind Milwaukee Brewers)
Projected starting pitcher: MartÃnez, Carlos; RHP (3-3, 2.50 earned run average, 57 strikeouts)
2018 Regular Season: Game 68 (2018-06-16 - 19:15) - Chicago Cubs at Saint Louis Cardinals
Carlos MartÃnez has been screwing around since returning from the disabled list. Not pitching balls and disrespecting the game of baseball is not helping MartÃnez or the Cardinals. MartÃnez needs to get with the program.
I wonder which Cardinals who cannot hit balls with bats for base hits and runs batted in will have bench warming duties in the clubhouse throughout the game. Dexter Fowler and Kolten Wong will see bench time.
2018 Regular Season: Game 68 (2018-06-16 - 19:15) - Chicago Cubs at Saint Louis Cardinals
Final: Cubs 6, Cardinals 3

Home run: Ozuna, Marcell (10)
Runs batted in: Ozuna, Marcell, 2 (40); MartÃnez, Carlos (2)
Pitching
Carlos MartÃnez, in no decision, allowed seven hits, allowed three earned runs including one home run, allowed six bases on bals, and struck out five in five innings.
Sam Tuivailala (1-2) lost the decision. He allowed two hits, allowed one earned run, and allowed one base on balls in two thirds of an inning.
Jordan Hicks allowed one hit, allowed two runs (one earned) including one home run, allowed one base on balls, and struck out one in two thirds of an inning.
2018 Regular Season: Game 68 (2018-06-16 - 19:15) - Chicago Cubs at Saint Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals turned a lead in a game into another loss. Not hitting balls with bats for base hits and runs batted in and bad pitching combined for the loss.
Losers club members Matt Carpenter, Dexter Fowler, and Kolten Wong were missing in action at bat. They did not hit balls with bats for runs batted in. Fowler will be back on pinch hitting duty.
Saint Louis Cardinals (36-32)
Third, National League Central Division (5.0 games behind Milwaukee Brewers)
Projected starting pitcher: Flaherty, Jack; RHP (3-2, 2.96 earned run average, 48 strikeouts)
