Matt Adams' 11th home run of the season in the 16th inning lifted the Cardinals over the Dodgers for the 4-3 win. Jedd Gyorko also hit his 12th home run of the season.

Michael Wacha allowed two runs on ten hits and struck out four in six innings for no decision. Seth Maness (1-2) won the decision.

Although I'm a Dodgers fan, I like seeing these young players make their major league debuts. I was hoping that Mayers would have made a better showing than he did. I felt bad for the kid and his family. Hopefully next time will be better.

I can understand Mayers is getting his feet wet in the major leagues. As the Cubs and the Pirates won their games, Mayers had to step up to help the Cardinals keep pace. He failed.

I think Carlos Martinez should have gotten the start on four days rest. Mike Matheny made a bad decision.
