Baseball is outrageously boring...I used to play as a kid, and looking back, I view it as a colossal waste of time. Its just a generally boring game (not sport)...I think the fact that many players chew tobacco during the game speaks to how little intensity is typically involved in the game of baseball.

Baseballs not a sport? No intesity? It takes a TON of intensity to play infield or else you would get your head knocked off. Standing in a box facing a 12-6 curve followed by a 90+ mph fastball is pretty intense as well. Just becuase they are not constantly running does not mean it is not a sport. I can *kind of* see why people would find it boring, but to claim its not a sport is assonine.

yeah, those are all skills..but those skills dont make it a sport...Its just like saying that a quarterback throwing a ball 70 yards makes football a sport. That alone qualifies nothing imo.

As far as intensity - the fact of the matter is that I used to try to watch baseball, but even the infield play is mundane. There is hardly ever a hit, and particularly there is hardly ever one that isnt a pop fly and when there is a hit, it is only to one part of the field, so only a few players are ever active at one given time. Even the players who have to run to cover a base, must only do so on occasion.

Dont get me wrong, I think it takes an INCREDIBLE amount of concentration, skill, and reflex to play baseball - but it isnt a sport in my opinion.

That's a fascinating comment. So I have to ask, out of sheer, unadulterated curiosity: how do you define a sport--and what qualifies?

Apparently, something he enjoys watching is the qualification

The NFL is great on television, no doubt about it, but I was shocked the first time I went to the game and realized how much standing around those guys do.

If you don't like it then stop making threads about it. It's getting boring.
