If he's healthy, he is solid but you have to credit him for his loyalty. Alot of other guys would opt out and wait for a contender to come knocking.

When he's healthy he's not a bad center. Probably not as good as he was hyped to be but still solid. The problem is the last few years he hasn't been healthy.

The problem is that he is injury prone and the Rockets need to get rid of him

He is due a lot of money but he had a player option. If the Rockets release him they'll still have to pay him. I think he plays out this year and bolts and depending on healthy he feels, maybe he'll retire.

Well they have to do something because a center who is

weak defensively
fragile
clumsy
slow

is USELESS

That's their problem for giving him such a big contract. They still owe him money whether he plays or not. You can't just erase players and the money you owe them when it doesn't work out. Sometimes you get stuck in contracts. That's the risk. Their loss for another year.

Yao got the big contract before his injuries. I guarantee you Dwight Howard thinks he is awesome. Howard has had his lunch money taken away from Yao whenever they play head to head and keep in mind Howard is the best center in the league.
