If Caron Butler hadn't suffered of that season-ending injury either, we'd really be giving the Spurs for their money. But I think the Mavericks are finally getting back to normal - they've won eight straight and are a season-high 20 games over .500 at 35-15 with that win in Charlotte last night. Dirk had 29.

^^^Yep that blow to Butler really hurt them and I still think they need to bring someone in to try to replace what he brought to the table because I see the Mavs not making it past the 1st round again with the team they have now.

They did bring in Peja Stojakovic, who made his team debut tonight.

But in a game featuring two teams with streaks - the one team with longest winning streak in Dallas, and the longest losing streak in Cleveland, the Cavs and Mavs faced off in Dallas. The Mavericks defeated the Cavaliers, 99-96, to improve their record to 36-15, win their ninth straight, and push Cleveland to their 25th straight loss. (who are now 8-44)

Better scorer. Can't say he's as well-rounded as KG in his heyday, though.

i agree, dirk can shoot as well as anyone in the league. he couldnt post up george hill but he can shoot over anyone from the outside. outside of that, KG has him beat in every way, rebounding, passing, defense, running the floor and just plain hustling. dirk is finesse, KG is everything but.

and i HATE both of them equally so they have that to share.

how about KG hitting someone in almost every single game the last 2 weeks but not a single fine, ejection, nothing. is the league playing favorites? channing fry's juevos rancheros would sure call it favoritism.

I can't believe they even signed him...even for a cheap price. Maybe 3-4 yrs ago, i would've picked him up. Now watch him go on a shooting tear after not believing in him...lol

They want a sufficient player at the SF position in the starting lineup while keeping Shawn Marion a consistant scorer and an active defensive player (and Jason Terry) coming off the bench to provide a spark.

Some games to watch tonight:

Detroit @ Cleveland; See if the Cavs can end their 25-game losing streak
San Antonio @ Toronto; The Spurs try to improve upon their league-best 43-8 record
LA Clippers @ New York; Griffin vs. Amar'e should be a great matchup
Chicago @ Utah; Bulls try to edge closer to Miami against the Jazz who attempt to improve their current #6 seeding in the conference
Dallas @ Sacramento; The Mavs are back on track and attempt to make it 10 wins in a row
Denver @ Golden State; Two of the best offenses in a league collide in what should be an entertaining game.
