Yes, the people in this forum who are sticking a dagger in the Lakers are foolish.
The Spurs are not unbeatable. Very talented but are not unbeatable.
I couldn't rep you again but its like I've been saying since the season first started, GREAT TEAMS WIN WHEN IT COUNTS! Of course I'm not saying the Spurs aren't a great team because they are HOWEVER the LAKERS are STILL the CHAMPS until the new champ title is given. I'm sure had the Spurs won that game, this thread would be filled with comments indicating the Spurs are going to be the new champs but it is very clear with that blow out that the Spurs will not beat the Lakers in a 7 game series. Hec they may not even be able to beat the Mavs.
it is very clear with one game that the spurs will not beat the spurs? LMAO really? come on now, the spurs blew the lakers out 1 game, the lakers blew the spurs out one game and the other game was a last second tip to win.
so because the lakers got blown out by the heat on christmas i guess we ccan go ahead and say the lakers cant beat the heat in 7 games? because the celtics have beaten the lakers pretty easily i guess the lakers cant beat the celtics in 7 games either?
all season lakers fans been saying "its just one game" when they lose (no mater haw bad the loss) then they FINALLY get a good win and now they cant be beat? GTFOH with that BS.

Never said the Lakers could not be beat but the Lakers are not as pathetic as many of you on this forum has been making them out to be.
And despite the Spurs great record, they are not unbeatable nor are promised to win the championship.
It's true, had the Spurs won yesterday, many of you would have been putting a fork in the Lakers.
For the past 2 seasons, people on this forum have been doubting the Lakers for some reason. I'm not sure whether it's hatred for the Lakers and Kobe or are just unbelievers.
The Spurs are a GREAT team and anybody would be foolish to discount them but until they de-throne the Lakers, we can't say anything for sure at this point.
you will be hard pressed to find more then 1 spurs fan around here crowing the spurs. certainly the spurs are still one of 3-4 teams favored to win it all regardless of a single regular season game as they say.
fact, the lakers put together a near perfect game against the spurs, much like the spurs did against the heat. fact, the spurs have still beaten them twice. fact it is unlikely we will see a competitive game 4 this regular season as it is the 81st game for the spurs who SHOULD have the #1 seed all locked up. fact the lakers bench is so weak that jackson left kobe, bynum, and gasol in the game till the 1 minute mark, running gasols minutes to 36 for the game while no spur played more then 25.
bottom line the playoffs are going to be interesting to say the least.

My position was always that its stupid to get seriously involved until AFTER the trade deadline which is now when EVERY team needs to be playing their best basketball and during THIS time is when you REALLY get to see who is the real from the fake and the playoffs will separate the real from the BEST. I do not believe the Spurs will beat the Lakers in a series and I'm sticking to it and its a good chance they don't beat the Mavs either. Basketball at THIS stage is when it counts. Teams are playing for best playoff standings so who you loose too is serious business now and the Lakers made a statement blowing out the Spurs. Regardless of how it was done they got the win and by a large margin.
well you are only partially right. the spurs have a healthy lead on everyone and so they dont have to play as hard, thats a fact. the idea that all teams play harder this time of year or that the best teams will show themselves after the break is kinda funny. as discussed elsewhere on this board, with a 5+ game lead the spurs will more then likely rest their stars as their seeding is all but set in stone. teams like the lakers and mavs will play catchup or are racing each other for home court.
the spurs last year where playing their best ball the last 20 games by far, and yet they got swept in the 2nd round. the celtics where not playing well at all at the end of last season and went to the finals and arguably would have won if not for perkins injury. the lakers lost 11 of their last 20 games and still won a title so i would say your point is a bit off kilter.
No I'm not partially right, I am right but obviously you missed my point. It doesn't matter what the Spurs or anyone's standing is teams just want a playoff spot. We've seen it time and time again with the teams who have good records who get cut in the first round, Mavs are a perfect example. However there are teams that in this late in the game, teams shouldn't loose too period. Just like the Heat loosing to the Bulls, they shouldn't have lost that game. You can sleep on the teams you know aren't competition however your rivals, the teams you know you're going to have to face down the stretch, you need to beat them point blank period. Like I said before, if this had been the Spurs who won the comments would be totally different. I don't see any of the Lakers being a bust comments now... how ironic. Where are all the Heat fans at? Like I stated the season didn't officially start until Feb. 25 and its very evident who the truly good teams are.

Lets not forget the 1993-94 Seattle Supersonics who went 63-19. They lost to an "inferior" Nuggets team in the first round and was the biggest upset in the NBA up to that point. The 58-24 Rockets won the championship that year.
The Bulls had the best record in the league only one season during their championship run from 1991-1993.

so which is it, the really good teams start playing hard this time of the year or nobody cares what position they are in they only want a playoff spot. because if nobody cared what position then why would the good teams really play harder this time of year?
you make it sound as if the lakers are unstoppable because they have beaten some sub par teams, inched out a win over the thunder and had the best game they have played in 2 seasons against the spurs. again my points stand that if the good teams are supposed to play better this time of year, and not take games lightly then explain the lakers last year losing going something like 11-9 in the last 20. or the celtics who looked so-so all season until the proverbial "switch" was thrown in the playoffs.
i think your argument is pointless as you cant make up your mind what its going to be apparently. as i have said many times i do not think the lakers will make it out of the west, i have confidence in the spurs. hell i dont know if the lakers can get past the mavs at this point. even though they are very injured, even the blazers give them fits. the lakers look like they have the hardest road of any team int he league to get to the title and are coming off a cushy schedule all season.
