I think Dwight Howard might win the MVP this year.

However, it's possible that Wade, Lebron and Howard split the vote up so badly that Kobe strolls in for the win.

It generally goes to the team with one of the top records but a lot of those don't have a clear "best player" like the Celtics and Spurs so it's hard to get momentum.

I can see Durant and Rose get some votes too.

Oh well, lots of basketball to go and if the Lakers keep playing like this it won't be Kobe.

I think he was referring to All-star mvp, not season MVP. There's really no consensus season MVP pick right now, but if I had to vote for someone it would probably be Dirk.

Ah, thanks. My bad as all-star MVP is meaningless.

Dirk would be a VERY strong candidate for MVP if the voting were right now.

I know it's along shot that he will make it, but LaMarcus Aldridge absolutely deserves to make the All-Star game. He has played lights out this year. The Blazers have had tons of injuries all season and they are are still in the playoff picture.

I was talking about all star MVP.lol For the season though, its up in the air. I looking @ Kobe or Dirk. D wade and Lebron could be contenders but I doont really see anyone of them winning(not this season)

The way the Spurs are going...a 68+ win season and Duncan is going to get some serious votes. I know he isn't what he once was but he is still the leader of that team and is putting up close to 14-10 and playing strong defense.

Hard to say though.

POP is officially the 1st allstar of the season. think he cares? ehh not so much.

i dont see duncan getting many votes for MVP, tony has IMO been the mvp of the team, with manu a close second only because tony has been more consistent then manu. duncan is the man, he is the rock and the leader but mvp voters dont vote on that these days.

It's funny, Kobe's name seems to get thrown into the mix almost by default. He's certainly not more MVP worthy than Wade, Lebron, Howard, Rose, or Dirk this year.

The general formula for MVP voting is that you are the best player on a team with one of the top records in the league.

After that criteria it gets really really messy like with LEbron\Wade on the same team etc.

If the Lakers finish 2nd in the west I can see Kobe winning it again....since the other teams have multiple guys with some degree of parity.

Rose is too young to the league to win yet.

Frankly, if the vote is today and I have to bet on one player....I have to go with Kobe.
