But every so often, you'll get situations where Yi Jianlian gets tons of votes, one year I think he was almost voted in as a starter. Or Tmac will flirt with being voted in as a starter, even if he's played 5 games and averaging 8 eights. Hell, I'm sure Yao will get voted in as the West starter, just on the basis of the votes coming outta the far East...

Oh yeah, forgot he got selected last year. He plays for the Warriors now, I think...
Don't forget Allen Iverson getting voted in last year (or the year before).

Heck, he was a crappy player even in his prime. lol.

Who would you put in??? Yao cant play, and alot of the other guys are on losing teams. How bout bout Okur? But Im looking at my East pick in Howard and who may do a good job in guarding him and Shaq.

Keep im mind Shaq has been hurt 2 or 3 times before the all star game and still made the team.

Last season Bynum finished 9th in pts. and 17th in rebounding among NBA centers. Adjusted to 48minutes he was 12th in pts. and 36th in rebounding.

So, with these numbers he should get into the all-star game even though he has been hurt because he was so good in the past? Really?

So, pretty much any of these guys.....Al Jefferson, nene, David Lee maybe 2-3 others.

The west is weak at center....it's just not Bynum weak.

So, his points are mediocre, his rebounding dismal and he's not a noteworthy defender like some of the other centers I didn't even list but somehow he's a good *matchup*.

Not to mention he's still not 100% back from his injuries which has me REALLY confused as to the logic of wanting him for the "match-up". (Which is confusing anyway given that the actual game itself isn't even the point of all-star weekend.)

Just be honest, he wears a Lakers jersey so you want him in. There is nothing wrong with that and you can obviously vote for whomever you want.

Maybe the Lakers can quick sign Eddie Curry and send him instead.

A lot about the allstar game is pointless, but I think the NBA has the best AS weekend/game of any sport, its usually an enjoyable watch. Followed closely by the MLB, then the NHL and I guess I can mention the Pro Bowl even though I don't think I have ever watched an entire Pro Bowl before.

i dont care for baseball at all but i would say nba and mlb are pretty close for what they offer. the nba tries to cater to fans a bit more then any other sport yet they still get a bad wrap as a "league full of thugs".

i say the probowl is the most worthless of all the "allstar" events, followed by the fan voting of the nba. i say the nba needs to go to a "peer voting" system rather then fan voting. it is becoming a joke with a billion chinese voting for their boys.

I think the thing to do is have the coaches/media select the starters( as opposed to the subs), and have the fans pick the reserves. Essentially, flip it around. You have a far better chance of having people who 'should' make the team do so, while giving the fans essentially 7 'reserve' picks per side. Otherwise, you wind up with Yao Ming making the starting lineup just on the basis of the countless votes coming out of the far east.

NOT A LAKER FAN BUDDY- SPURS ALL THE WAY!! And yes, I would vote him in, thats why this little thread is my opinion!! Its not about stats, its about STARS!!
If he is so mediocre, you should challenge him to one on one!!
