i would not consider bynam a star, what has he done, EVER? the only reason people know his name is because he plays for the lakers. if he was a twolf would he be voted in? not likely. to be honest i would take darko over bynam in the allstar game this year, and considering bynams injury issues i bet darko could be just as productive if he where on the lakers.

The fact that we're even debating Andrew Bynum as an all-star, given that he's oft-injured and only shown flashes of dominant play( when he's not, you know, injured) speaks to how far the center position has fallen in the past decade. This guy is an absolute joke compared to the 90's centers Hakeem, Shaq, Admiral, Ewing. Hell, he's not even the equal of the 2nd tier guys like Mutumbo and Mourning.

If he is so mediocre, you should challenge him to one on one!!
1) I totally agree it's your opinion. I'm merely proving that the opinion has cerebal palsy.

2) Bynum has neither stats nor star power....maybe Justin Bieber can be in the all-star game then, he's got star power and is at least tougher than Bynum.

3) Your premise is that a random person should be able to beat a mediocre nba player 1-1.....otherwise the player is not mediocre. I'm just going to let this one hang out there so everyone can get a good laugh.

If this has been a debate then can I call shooting penned cattle at my neighbors farm hunting?

Started and played 50 games last year and finished 36th in rebounding per 48minutes and out of the top-10 in points for centers.

He's not even 3rd tier...more like Luc Longley level.

LOL, I wouldn't go 'quite' that far, but yeah this guy isn't a star. He's a guy that had a good stretch of Basketball back in the 2008 year before getting injured, which inspired some fans to label him the 'next Kareem' for the Lakers. Hmmmmm yeahhhh........ok. The guy has 'potential' and is a good player WHEN healthy, but he's never been able to put together a successful year being even remotely healthy from start to finish. Sure the Lakers need him to win but that's moreso because there's a premium on big men in the league, not because he's the second coming of Hakeem Olajuwan.

I just happened to watch basketball during the greatest 20 year period of big men in NBA history. I saw the last few years of Kareem and Moses Malone. I've seen Hakeem, Shaq, David Robinson, Ewing, Mchale, Mutombo, Mourning, Duncan, Karl Malone, Barkley, Garnett, Webber, Dirk. A few others whose names escape me now, moral of the story is I've seen too many great centers/power forwards to be remotely impressed by this guy.
