wasnt sure where to put this but notices perkins turned down a 4 year 30m extension from the celtics and wants to test being unrestricted in the summer.

personally i think, bad idea considering the potential lockout and new CBA coming. is perkins better then $7.5 mil a year now? i say that money is just abotu right, considering he has decent defense, and rebound and sub par offensive ability.

Agreed, he is a great defensive player with many offensive limitations. I like him as a player, moves well without the ball and does all the dirty work, tough guy... but idk what he is thinking with this move. Maybe he is hoping to sweat more money out of Boston, considering they are relatively thin on bigs.

ok this makes more sense, 4 years 22m and perkins is worth a bit more then that, i mean thats mid level exception money.

Quote:
Kendrick Perkins told CSNNE.com on Monday that Boston's extension offer made to him was for four years around $22 million.

An earlier report by the Boston Herald cited two unnamed sources that indicated Perkins turned down a contract extension that was for four years and worth slightly less than $30 million.

"That wasn't it. They offered me four years, but it was closer to like $22 million," Perkins said. "You talking four years, $30 million! Shoot, that's different. That's a big difference."

Yeah, 4/22 means that they are paying him maybe 4.2million for the first year increasing by 20% for subsequent years as the increase doesn't impact the cap.

That's a little light for a guy that can be a serviceable starting center on a number of NBA teams.

Guys like Steve Blake, Ridnour, Darko all signed 4/16 contracts not too long ago for a point of reference.

the celtic are betting on the new CBA and the possible lock out on that one. they expect it to come and players salaries to be reduced or locked out and so they are trying to get over on him IMO. either that or they dont have much respect for him and what he brings. any number of teams would sign him for teh 4/30 originally reported. hell let him contact pop/rc/holt and i bet they offer him something similar to the 4/30. if that number doesnt change i bet he goes to the heat.
