I didn't mention points, I was talking about rebounds. Olajuwon was relatively new to the sport too, his game was soccer in Nigeria and he wasn't highly recruited coming into college.

Olajuwon
pt 16.8 (.675)
rb 13.5
bl 5.6
as 1.3

Ezeli
pt 13.0p (.588)
rb 6.3
bl 2.6
as 0.2

Different levels of beast, and definitely big shoes you are giving him to stand in.

same as Fes.

Watch him move up into the draft lotto..write it down.

Injury is the only potential stumbling block.

Moving up into the draft lottery is a pretty different claim than saying someone is the next Olajuwon, should I write that part down too?

Desagana Diop moved up into the draft lottery, he's not the next Hakeem either.

I'll stick with my prediction. If Will Perdue can go high in the draft and end up with 4 NBA championship rings... well, Fes is from a disappearing breed - the true low post beast.

Watch some of him on youtube. I wish you were in Nashville so you could enjoy some of those nasty dunks up close in person! But Olajuwon was one of my all-time faves, so...

I can't imagine there being much interest in him once his contract ends, unless someone picks him up real cheap.... he's too much an injury risk to put out big bucks for at this point.

That's what was said about Jermaine O'Neal and the dude is still on teams to date. Grant Hill was out many years (while on my team) and today he has been playing good basketball. Oden has proved his worth in the few minutes he has played. If he can prove that he can play again, teams will be flooding to get him. Most centers today don't have the size, strength, and skill set Oden has i.e. he is a commodity.

greg oden is not getting more then a couple mil a year if/when he signs a new contract. in his TOTAL of 82 games he is averaging 9 and 7. those are not bad numbers for a season BUT if it takes him another 3 season to get 82 games then he is near worthless. i could see a team like the spurs, or miami go in real cheap and sign him as a little risk to possible reward. kinda like the spurs signing butler for nearly nothing. if the kid comes back into his college form (before knee injury) he is lottery talent on 2nd round money. similar to blair, who fell to the 2nd round. he also became the 1st rookie since tim duncan to go 20-20 more then once in a season.

Yeah and is Jermaine Oneal still getting paid mega bucks? He's a serviceable big man when healthy in a big-man starved league. He's probably on a contract that is suitable for someone who has a high risk of injury. Same with Grant Hill.

I'm not saying Oden is out of the NBA once his rookie contract ends. What I am saying is that no-one is going to risk giving him a max contract when he's missed more games to injury than he's played. Any GM that gives Oden a 15 million a year guaranteed contract at this point, with the risk that Oden will be injured by the 5th game of the year, deserves to be fired.

Marcus Camby came back from injuries to have some good years.

I wish I could say I think that will happen for Oden. I really don't think it will work out good. Maybe European pro ball for him down the road?
