HUH?? They are close to the 6th seed I believe
He is correct in that they will make the playoffs no matter what and in fairness the 6th or 7th seed are pretty moot as you will be facing either the Celtics, Heat or Bulls so there is no "easier team" to try to aim for.

However, I agree the ESPN guy is an idiot.
(ESPN is a mental skidmark in most of their analysis anyway.)

Any serious basketball fan knew the Knicks gave up a lot and there are ALWAYS chemistry issues when shaking things up that much.

I'm going to chalk this up to the ESPN analyst being a bandwagon Knicks homer that can face reality.

I'm still in the minority in that I think the Carmelo move was a good longer term move.

I watched a good portion of the sham nets vs. knicks game last night. LOL.

I say sham because it was played like an all-star game in front of all the stars that came out to watch....no defense, just run and gun....high scoring love fest.

Reminded me very much of the Pheonix Suns teams of a few years ago where everyone knew they wouldn't play D and so everyone would just run and gun and pad thier stat lines etc. and sure enough there is Carmelo front and center on the ESPN site for "scoring 39" two games in a row.

The bandwagoners will love it, the real Knicks fans will grind their teeth to the gums. Pass the popcorn.

Real Knicks fans wont be grinding their teeth because Knicks were in a long losing streak a few games ago. So real Knick fans will take the win especially when it increases their chances of making the playoffs.

I'm talking more about the long-term implications of their new style of play. Making the playoffs while not guaranteed, would have required one of the greatest collapses in modern sports for it not to have occurred.

For some peculiar reason, the Knicks have a tendency to play down to their opposition. They can look perfectly competent against a good team...but totally pathetic against a truly bad one. That's the best possible sign for their making the playoffs, since the clubs only capable of winning a dozen games during the regular season won't be around!

Well I was wrong, the knicks will be playing the Celtics in round 1 since they have clinched the 6th seed and the Celtics will be the 3 seed

No way will the Heat lose to the Hawks and Raptors

Well, I was wrong too.

The Celtics have fallen apart.

The Knicks are starting to look a lot better which doesn't matter this year which is why the trade for Carmelo is indeed a future move.
