From everything I have read, Stevens is waiting on the Indiana job and only the Indiana job.

I've heard rumors that Missouri is interested, do you see it happening this off-season?

The only person MU has indicated they have interest in is Painter and we all know how that turned out.

Smart is on a one tournament run with players he didnt recruit. I wouldnt hire him.... yet.

Exactly right! Seems no one outside of Indianapolis knows the Brad Stevens story. Brad left a very good job at Eli Lilly, I think in marketing maybe, to become a VOLUNTEER at Butler.

But, having said that, I will never say never.

I bet he will end up taking one of the destination jobs when they open up. No point in taking a stepping stone at this point if you are fine with 500k a year. But, if Indiana or one of the other all-time great programs call, you have to think he will listen. You dont turn down those jobs.

You could very well be correct, but I don't know why some think the Indiana job will open in the not-too-distant future. IU signed Crean to a pretty lengthy and expensive deal, the athletic department there still isn't exactly flush with cash, and it appears that Crean may finally be getting the recruits that'll bring IU back into the top tier. Plus, Stevens is reportedly making between $750K and $1 million per year, not $500K. So, if he's really waiting for IU, he could be waiting a long time.

One top program I could see him bolting to - Duke. Coach K can't coach forever.

Maybe waiting a long time fits him though. He is young and is building a program at Butler. He is young enough that he could spend another 10 years at Butler and then go to Indiana and spend the rest of his career.

Maybe he is hoping to have more success and get better offers than NC State and Mizzou. Or maybe he has loyalty! That has become a foreign word in college sports.

Yeah, I havent heard details on Smart's deal yet, but maybe he will try to actually build something at VCU. Besides, a lot of people are saying you dont want the NC State gig...

the NC State job isn't a good one by any stretch

I think Smart upped his salary to $1.2M per season (about doubling it)
