Melo and Billups made my Knicks worse. Incredible.

Before Melo trade:

- NO DEFENSE
- GREAT BALL MOVEMENT

After Melo trade:

- NO DEFENSE
- NO BALL MOVEMENT
- BUT MORE TICKET SALES?

Again, I think it depends upon your timeframe and your team goals.

1) What they gave up for melo is replaceable.
2) By acquiring Amare they'd already committed to a core lacking defense and well.....we know how far the Pheonix Suns got each year.

So really, it's not like the Knicks with ANY of these combos and even adding Chris Paul are ever going to win a championship.

B4 Melo...you could see them meshing and Amare becoming a leader. People were finding their roles.

With Melo you have 2 people that shoot that do not pass. At least with the Heat, Lebron and Wade pass the ball.

They are going to be a 5-6 seed for a long time.

At least before Melo, the Knicks had some solid surrounding pieces. Now, they'll be Heat Pt 2 and have to fill in with guys off the street around Melo and Stat.

So, we agree in principle, but sometimes the sum of the replaceable parts is greater than the whole or some jazz like that...and they'd have to be creative to afford Paul now.

The big problem is that your two best players don't set a tone defensively, this will rub off on the team. It's what made the 90's Bulls such a dynamite team, Jordan and Pippen,as the team's two stars, took pride in defense and their teammates had no choice but to put in that same effort.

Agreed. I believe Melo can play defense when he wants (as displayed these past 2 games). He can hustle and be aggressive, sometimes that leads into silly fouls but at least its something. HOWEVER, I dont know if Amare can play defense. Knicks need to bring in a defensive expert or get another coach.

David Lee hustled and played team ball. Timofey Mozgov had the makings of a legitimate NBA center. The Knicks found reasons to keep neither. The Anthony trade improved them--but only in the short run.
