I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs rest their starters or not play them much against the Lakers. I doubt they want the possibility of the Lakers falling to the 4th seed which means having to face them in the 2nd round. Don't be surprised if the Spurs 'tank' this game.

But if SA are considered frauds for a 5 or 6 game skid, than why not the Lakers? Or are we not allowed to say anything bad about them because they are the Lakers?

IMO people see a losing streak, don't bother to look at WHY and then make unfounded statements. This also applies to winning streaks.

It's what separates the serious followers of the NBA from the people that pay partial attention and catch a game here and there.

Ironically, the Knicks are probably the poster-child for this phenomenon this season as they've struggled with early chemistry people over-reacted and now they go on a nice run but in fairness against a softer stretch of schedule and people get excited.

If people think the Spurs or Lakers aren't going to go deep in the west and be the teams to beat....I have a bridge to sell them.

Who holds the tie-breaker between Chicago and San Antonio should both teams wind up with 62 wins? I was thinking the Spurs may rest the starters tonight against the Lakers, but the overall no.1 seed is still up for grabs, right?

What's their record against each other? I thought that's what the tie-breaker came down to if they have the same record....? Is what you say above the next step case if they're 1-1 against each other with identical records?

here is how NBA.COM has the tie breakers listed in order of precedence.

Quote:
TIEBREAKER BASIS:
(-) Tie breaker not needed (better overall winning percentage)
(1) Division leader wins tie from team not leading a division
(2) Head-to-head won-lost percentage
(3) Division won-lost percentage
(4) Conference won-lost percentage
(5) W-L Percentage vs. Playoff teams, own conference
(6) W-L Percentage vs. Playoff teams, other conference
(7) Net Points, all games
spurs and bulls both won a game against each other so they are tied head to head, both are division winners, so it goes to the 3rd tie breaker division win% where the bulls are better. a benefit of having the cavs, the pistons, the bucks, and pacers in their division vs the rockets, the griz, the mavs, and the hornets in the spurs division.
