playoff stats, ill habd it, dirk is better than reg season dirk
kg
18.2ppg/10.7rpg/3.3apg/1.2spg/1.3bpg
dirk
25.4ppg/10.2rpg/2.5apg/1.1spg/.9bpg

no mater how you slice it, or what you try to skew it with (check the playoffs) KG has better numbers all the way around outside of ppg.
then look at their best single season averages.......
KG
27ppg/18.7rpg/8.8apg/1.9spg/2.4bpg
dirk
28.4ppg/13.1rpg/4apg/2spg/2.6bpg

dirk had 2002 where he shined, huge season for dirk, but KG has better number s across the board.

Kevin Garnett vs. Dirk Nowitzki Comparison:

they are close, but KG is better, he has better numbers everywhere (except scoring) and dirk has NEVER been accused of even being a solid defender, much less a good defender. there is a reason the joke is he plays in Allas, because there aint no D up there
Dirk does have better playoff numbers and overall career numbers. He's just more of a clutch player. Even on KGs title team he had to team with two other stars and he wasnt the best player. Dirk had.....Jason Terry and Tyson Chandler, which was great. How might he have been with Pierce and Ray Allen? Potent is the answer.
The best season stats....most of those for KG are one n done. 3 games maybe 4?
Most great players have better playoff stats than regular season stats. KG is one of the few who does not.

we are talking player vs player not team vs team right?
because dirk has had some pretty stacked teams. and you leave off kidd? one of the greatest PGs in the history of the game? come on bro.

best SEASON, not best 3-4 game spread, best season average.

ill give you that KGs numbers go down from reg to playoffs and dirks go up. but dirks UP are still only better than KGs in shooting. not a single stat is dirk better then kg except ppg, even in the playoffs where dirks go up and KGs go down.

The season highs you posted were playoff years, not regular season. Those prime years for KG they were usually one and done....3-4 games for those averages.

Dirks offense is signicantly better and the other stats are negligably worse. I saw KG choke to many times, he wouldnt shoot game winners, he'd pass it off to inferior players and miss crucial free throws. Thats the KG I remember.

Kidd was at the end of his rope. Great floor general though.

dirks lack defense makes all his numbers fluff. a man who cant defend in the nba cant be better., kids

KG DOESNT have better numbers than duncan. KG has higher assists and steals both slightly. thats it, duncan is higher in ppg, rpg, bpg. and if you look at totals, duncan has more points, rebounds, blocks, but less games and 2 less seasons.

dirk isnt in that league either

Dirk is a very under rated defensive player. He has great hands on defense.

Take a quick look at how many all stars each of these three have played with, I'll give you a hint. He plays in Dallas.

Maybe eventually but he wasn't called "Irk Nowitzki" by accident.

He worked his way up to adequate. Huzzah.

head to head KG averaged about a half a point higher than tim, almost an assist (same as career) similar blocks and steals, tim averages almost 2 rebounds more.
most of KGs big games came in a small 2-3 year window. tims numbers have been consistent from start to today.

um KG has played with FAR less all stars than dirk, FAR less. you are stuck on his small window in boston, and over looking his t-wolves days.

dirk has under rated defense? how do you under rate a power forward who hasnt stepped inside the paint except to slap hands with team mates after missed free throws?

Lol, funny because it's true!

Dirk was a phenomenal scorer, but if on days he would drop 35 points, but give up 35 on the defensive end with late help, missed defensive assignments, slow in transition, etc..then that doesn't help his team. As opposed to the guy who would only drop 24 but be a net positive on the other end with blocks, defensive rebounds, offensive putbacks, etc.

The bottom line for players like Dirk, like Carmello, like Kobe (don't start Kobe25) is they are fun to watch on the offensive end but in a lot of games they are/were a net negative as a whole to the team.

When someone points out "yeah but XXX scored 29 ppg that year" then I immediately discount their opinion as this is not even close to what makes a great team player great IN A TEAM SPORT.
