I wonder about this. Sure 38 yr old Jason Kidd - who now many acknowledge may be the smartest floor player ever - to get some rest.

Won't others get rusty?

Are Memphis and Okc young enough not to get worn out?

Who would Dallas beat more easily?

well there has been a lot of research in the subject of teams waiting for other teams. a lot of what i have read is that teams play their best with 2 days rest. less they will obviously get tired, more and they tend to get rusty or lose their rhythm. obviously you want your opponent to be worn out but it can backfire, if you come in rusty and out of sync and your opponent has his wind, rhythm, and is in sync then thats a bad thing for you.

I think the Memphis Grizzlies are the one team NOBODY wants to play right now.

Why?

They are bringing great effort and intensity EVERY GAME. They also have guys that can consistently score in the paint. In terms of getting pushed around I think the Grizzlies could give Dallas problems.

On the flip side the Thunder have a very quick athletic team that could test the Mavericks in ways the Lakers couldn't. I think Kevin Durant is a much tougher derensive assignemnt for Dirk than Gasol was. I think Russell Westbrook is a great up and coming player but he's shown some laspes and judgement and he can be selfish with the basketball in ways that take other players out of the offense.

The advantage the Mavericks have is if you go eight or nine players deep they have MORE GUYS THAT CAN SHOOT THE BASKETBALL. That's how they beat the Lakers. Right now if the Mavericks plays great D and combine it with great shooting they can beat anybody right now. But they are vunerable on nights they don't shoot well or play good D.

I don't think either team can beat Dallas.

OKC has a better chance of beating the Mavs than the Grizz do.

I'd like to think so, but during the regular season the Mavs were 2-1 against the Thunder, and 1-3 and against the Grizzlies.

However, the playoffs are a whole different matter.

When a team has a long rest and comes back and win game 1 the media says they were WELL RESTED

When a team has a long rest and comes back and lose game 1 the media says they had too much rest and they were RUSTY

So dont buy into the REST thing

I would think the players after a couple days, just want to get out there and get going.

Good comments. I heard a couple of days ago that Caron Butler was healthy and dunking the ball. He means alot to the team chemistry. Wonder if he can play?
