Why not 100K, like what Kobe got? If the main issue is the word, then in my opinion whom it was said to isn't really the main issue, only that he was caught saying it on TV.

I think the fan should be banned from future games. Noah lost it but why should this fan be able to insult and harass a player from the visiting team? People under stress should be forgiven but I doubt the fan was under any stress at all, he was just being a bully because he knows he can with no harm coming to him at all.
I'm glad Noah stood up for himself and big deal if he said the word, maybe the fan called him a worse word.

Allegedly, this fan was very persistent in shouting out personal insults to several of the Bulls players, Noah in particular who, as we saw, responded in the manner he did.

One thing i always wondered was why many fans haven't gotten thrown out over the years. I was at a Rockets game once and heard some racial insults and vulgar stuff by fans yet they were not thrown out. The NBA needs to take seriously look at this stuff. As far as Noah, i don't have a problem with the $50k vs. $100k fine. He was provoked and out of frustration made that stupid comment. Kobe's deal was a bit different.

NBA said that the difference in fine amount was specifically because Kobe was also being punished for verbal abuse of a game official.

Yeah, I find it odd when the NBA is running a PSA right now about calling people "gay" etc. I don't care what it is, if fans are calling guys racial, ethnic slurs and so on it's not exactly the "fan friendly" image the NBA is pushing in the post-thug era.

I've been to my share of live fans, some fans actions are totally deplorable. I don't care if you're a paying customer, that doesn't give you the right to be as much of an ass as humanly possible. There are socially acceptable standards of behaviour that don't suddenly fall by the wayside just because you're watching a sporting event. I don't agree at all with Noah's outburst, but the NBA needs to do a better job of protecting its players from 'those' courtside fans that are in position to direct personal insults to the players. It crosses the line into verbal abuse, and I'm not buying the 'they're professionals, suck it up' argument. No-one deserves that kind of treatment and to be expected to take it with a smile.

Can you imagine if Noah (or any other NBA player) would play soccer in Europe where you can have thousands of fans yelling at you?
For that kind of money I would take a few insults...

Fans in the NBA are in much closer for longer durations. That is not even close to a fair comparison.

And I'm not sure soccer players in Europe can hear fans over the deafening sounds of their own fake crying when they get bumped
(You started it)

And Noah does take a "few insults," in fact thousands of them without reacting. He is probably one of the most heckled players in the leauge...Naturally because of the way he looks and acts. As a Bulls fan, I of course enjoy watching him though.

Bosh is a CAREER 49.3% shooter and a CAREER 20 points a game scorer. The guy's strong suit is mid range jump shots. If you leave him open HE WILL HIT HIS SHOOTS.
