Ridiculous argument. The championships Spurs had far better rosters than the Cavs teams Brown coached. Parker and Ginobli are both considerably better than anyone Lebron played alongside in Cleveland, not to forget the 1999 version of David Robinson at the end of his prime.

yup pretty much sums it up. well that and the fact i am sure the lakers know whats better for their team then the guy who thinks tom thibs didnt deserve COY this year over the 76ers coach.

is that teh same person who was screaming about how byron scott should have been fired 3 months into his 1st season of a depleted and injured team?

Mike Brown just one day might be as successful as Phil Jackson and lead the Lakers to victory!

The biggest threat to the Lakers isn't Mike Brown - it is the Laker players themselves, the ones that couldn't find it in them to win one game against Dallas. Kobe is older, slower - he's now just another very good player. Lamar can't be counted on to play to his potential all the time - in that sense he isn't very professional. Pau probably will be back - he wasn't himself - also unprofessional. Fish is slowing up but still is calm and cool and steady and predictable. Artest is supposed to be Mr. Defense but honestly he just doesn't look that quick.

So, if Phil Jackson couldn't get the Lakers to win even one game against Dallas, then it sort of indicates the Lakers themselves are the biggest threat. Chemistry? Not sure. That probably why the players wanted Shaw, someone who is cool and calm like Fish and is only a couple years removed from court.

The issue with the Lakers is how to tweak their roster. Brown should be a decent coach for them, but they're not going to do much damage with this same roster. Fish really needs to be gone. Personally, i thought Shaw would've been a better fit to continue that triangle continuity. Now, they have to learn a new system and it could take over a season to do it. The problem is that the window of opportunity to win a title for them might be only 1-2 yrs.

So he was obviously fired for not getting this Cavs Team over the hump and then the Lakers hire him?
he was fired in hopes of cleveland being able to keep lebron. come on, now.

i get the impression the lakers expect to be competing with lebron for titles so they want a person who knows him best maybe? he is surely not the most qualified but he is not nearly as bad as some people would make him out to be.
Actually Mike Brown is a good defensive coach and he knows how to handle a high profile player with a big ego. He's also one of the best young coaches in basketball.

There are a lot of people around the NBA that feel that Mike Brown as the "fall guy" in Cleveland. Not long after he left Danny Ferry their highly respected GM also left, which tells me Brown's firing was a ownership move not one by the people who actually knew basketball.

The fact that two highly respected basketball people left the organization was the beiginning of LeBron leaving and I can't say I blame him. At that point there was nobody in terms of the basketball side of the business that he knew and could trust.

Ferry, Cavs agree to mutual parting

Quote:
CLEVELAND -- Danny Ferry didn't agree with the decision to fire Cleveland's coach. He knew re-signing superstar free agent LeBron James would be difficult. He felt his authority as general manager was being reduced by an owner with a different vision.

The Cavaliers are changing.

Ferry decided to let them -- without him.

He is out as Cleveland's general manager, choosing not to re-sign his contract that was set to expire at the end of the month. The decision comes as a surprise but was made days ago, and complicates the most important offseason in team history.

Basically LeBron carried the Cavs on his back during this time there.

Mike Brown has PROVEN he can win in the NBA as head coach. He is considered one of the best young coaches in the game.

Brian Shaw has NEVER been a head coach in the NBA and would have been asked to step in as a rookie coach and take a veteran team and contend for a title in LOS ANGELES. That's a lot of pressure to put on somebody for their first job.
