Luc Longley has quite a few rings too, by your success meter, he's probably like top 15?

Side note, I was watching that Reggie Miller story on 30 on 30, is it just me or was basketball a lot more fun in the 90's?

Magic is a 5 time NBA Champ with 3 MVP trophies, 3 Finals MVP trophies (while playing alongside HoF greats like Kareem and Worthy). As for points, he was a true point guard unlike today's combo guards i.e. Rose, Westbrook, etc. What that means it was about how he facilitated the ball. He averaged 11.3 assists on his career. He did this while being about 8 inches taller and about an extra 70lbs on most guys guarding him. I rated Magic higher than Jordan for one simple fact; there hasn't been anyone like him.

As for Kobe, 81 and he is still going strong... enough said.

Um, no, thanks for completely taking out most of my post of qualifiers.

There might not have been anyone like him since, but there hasn't been anyone like Jordan, and he is better. He is amazing, though.

I hope you are joking. Most people try to copy his game. Kobe has played a very similiar game to MJ.

One-dimensional? One dimension would that be? If being a 5 time MVP and being one of the greatest defensive players of all time is one dimensional so be it. By the way, as for the lack of competition, Russell beat Wilt one more than one occasion.

Did I mention his stint as both player and coach?

To be truly fair...

Make a top ten list of each position, then take the top two in each and you would have a fair top 10 of all time.

It's hard to imagine a list without Hakeem, but we had to limit ourselves to just 10 slots. Given Shaq's numbers and his dominance, I think you have to give him the nod.
Yeah. Anyone questioning Shaq need only look to the championship series vs. Philly where he averaged something like 35-15 while shooting 55-60%. Kobe didn't even play all of the series and the Lakers stomped the 76ers. (Kobe at that time was nowhere near the levels he would eventually reach.)

I will take Hakeem at his peak over any other center in the league but Shaq is def. top 10.

P.S. If Duncan isn't on that list I don't know what to say....probably people looking at career numbers and not realize the guy played most of his years in the low-scoring NBA on a slow-paced team where 22pts was 1/4 of the teams offense most nights. Tough to say but Duncan, Shaq and Kobe are about equal in my eyes.

An interesting perspective. That would look something like this:

PG: Magic, Oscar
SG: Jordan, Kobe
SF: Bird....hmmm....Lebron?
PF: Duncan, Malone
C:Wilt, Kareem

Not a bad list, but I can't see not having Shaq or Hakeem on the top 10 list. Nor does Lebron belong on the top 10 list. Which begs the question, if we consider Bird the best SF ever, is Lebron already number 2?
