That's another point, Shaq was so unstoppable in his prime that you needed 3-4 bigmen just to have enough fouls to put him on the line and live with his shaky foul-shooting, or surrender a likely 2 points if he's within 5 feet. Which depleted your entire frontline. Hakeem, more 'skilled', Shaq arguably more dominant and impactful on an opposing team's defensive scheme.

And for the record, Shaq being big wasn't the only reason he was great. Otherwise Stanley Roberts would be one of the great centers ever. For those who don't know who that is, youtube it....
This. There are no style points.

You can ***** and moan all you want but Shaq single handedly annihilated the 76ers averaging 33pts and 16 rebs. Every single game he shot >52%. Two of the five he shot >60% from the field.
I remember and enjoyed it. But I guess we will just have to say they are both 3 or 4 best centers of all time

Then why start a thread like you did and then conclude with this statement?

Just out of curiosity, TVSG--do you draw a distinction between the young Shaq outplayed by Olajuwon and the player he became as his career advanced? (If, by chance, you do, then your reasons for this thread are unusually difficult to understand).

It took Shaq 8 years to become dominant, Hakeem was in the Finals in his second year

The End

That is some really *special* logic. Plus you can't count to 7.

What the heck are you talking about? Shaq averaged 23 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks as a ROOKIE. His following seasons, he averaged like 29 and 13. He was individually dominant from the get-go, it only translated to team success when he had the right pieces around him. To say Shaq was dominant after 8 years is like saying Jordan was only dominant after 8 years. Shaq was an INSTANT impact player from the moment he entered the league.

Oh, and about Hakeem being in the finals in his second year, you do realize Shaq was in the finals his 3rd year? It took Hakeem 10 years to win, it took Shaq 8. Anything else?

Perhaps you should replace the "Sports" in your screen name with something else. Something you're better at discussing.
