Most of these primadonna sports owners would never even think of interacting with fans. I beliEVE Cuban truly sees himself as a fan, not just an owner. He can buy and sell pretty much all owners in sports, yet you'll never see him parked up sitting in a luxury box away from the common folk. Then tonight he lets the trophy be presented to the origional owner of the Mavs, and gets choked up when talking about the players on his team and how happy he was for him. Diverted attention away from himself. I admire his sincerity and passion. I suppose those traits are responsible for much of his success in life.

I agree. I always liked him. He is just truly involved with his team. Also, gotta give credit to Donnie Nelson for putting together this roster. I don't think i can recall a deeper team than the Mavs in a long time. Caron Butler was their 2nd best player and he never played in the playoffs. If you watch the show "Shark Tank", Cuban was on that show. He is a really really sharp guy.

As a Yankee fan I consider him a branch off the Steinbrenner tree. He gives it all for his team. Not much more you can ask for from your owner.

Wasn't a fan at one time. I'm happy for him.

He has stayed quiet all playoffs and when asked about that during the post-game celebration he totally dodged the question....the mike passed to the head coach and he said nothing either.

So basically Cuban made a conscious decision to keep mum either on his own, with encouragement from Stern or maybe another advisor. Perhaps he just didn't want to steal the limelight from his players and is older and wiser?

If anyone has any insights I'm curious to hear them.

FWIW I think he is a passionate owner that has obviously done everything he can for his team. I may not like the guy but honestly, with some many incompetant franchises in pro-sports owned by idiots, corporations or disinterested figureheads.....I don't know how you wouldn't like having an owner something like Cuban.

P.S. The Spurs owner is pretty awesome too....TX is fortunate at least in regards to basketball.

Chicago really missed out when he didn't buy the cubs. No idea how much steam was behind that rumor in the first place, but boy, that would have been good for that team.

Yeah - I'm not sure why MLB would shy away from having him as an owner .... I wish he'd come and buy the coyotes out here, they could use someone exactly like him

What he did to change the culture around that team was remarkable. Probably the biggest knock against him was that at times it seemed like he courted the spotlight and made the game about himself ......... I don't think i've seen a shred of that over the past couple years ... he definitely put in the work to earn that ring

Another reason why Cuban is the man... he's paying for the Mavericks parade celebration out of his own pocket! Ya think Jerry Jones or any other owner in sports would do that?

Yeah definately..Cuban is a fan of the sport period. Those are the best kind of owners. They actually follow the game and NOT just the revenue numbers. THey are basically like kids playing a video game, they make all of the moves that we all wish owners would do.

As much as I dislike the cowboys...I respect Jerry JHones for the same reason. The man LOVES football.

Mark Cuban deserves all the respect a team owner could get. He truly shows he cares, and puts money where his mouth is. I am so happy they won. They deserve it. Congratulations to Dallas. A team full of finess, class, will and determination.

Marc and the Dallas Mavericks, cheers to you!!!!!!!!
