I need a high IQ floor general to run the show for Dream and Wilt.

Spoiler

Well, anyway...

Jason Frederick Kidd

94-95 NBA Rookie of the Year
10x NBA All Star

2nd all time in assists, and 3rd all time in steals and 3 pt makes. His first tour of duty with the Mavs showed us a very entertaining and versatile PG with strong rebounding abilities. His second time through, he's shown that he's grown into a dribbling brain on the court.

You know.... I'm developing a dislike for you. First Hakeem...now Kidd. Who was going to be my pick with the other HOF points gone.

Just kidding on the dislike, but dammit get out of my head.

Well, I'm going to make the pick that others may be 'afraid' to make right now. Much maligned, heavily scrutinized and criticized( much of it well deserved). Some may question his will to win, some may question his loyalty. And you never know what's going to come out of his mouth when you give him a mic.

But his talent is undeniable. Will he win 8 championships? Likely not. But am I going to ignore what he HAS accomplished, just to harp on about what he HASN'T? Nope.....

I select ( as if it wasn't mind-numbingly obvious by now):

Spoiler

Lebron James out of St. Vincent-St.Mary High School

Career achievements:

And plenty of Basketball left to be played. Was he a flop in the finals? Absolutely. Does he need to work on his game? Without doubt. But we forget how scary good this guy is when he's on his game, and on this team, he's not expected to play the role of savior. So, at this stage, I'll take the guy with career averages of 27, 7,7 and 2 MVPs....by the age of 26.

LBJ is a solid pick here. It also looks like he eye gauging <undrafted> in that pic.

I had Lebron on my radar, I confess.

I'm going to go a 'bit' out in left field for this pick. Because many wouldn't take him this soon. Admittedly a bit of a sentimental pick( he's my second favorite player ever), but his defensive versatility on the perimeter is nearly peerless. He can harass anyone from point guard to small forward the entire length of the court and even do occasional spot duty at the PF spot depending on the matchup, block shots, play suffocating man to man defense, strip his man or play the passing lanes, initiate the offense, and provide solid, complementary scoring. Are there others I'd pick before him? Yes, but for the kind of team I'm trying to assemble, I'm not taking the risk of someone else picking this versatile, multifaceted player before my next turn.

I'll take:

Spoiler

Scottie Pippen from the University of Central Arkansas ( what, you thought I was taking the one getting DUNKED ON!?)

Pippen, somewhat in contrast to Lebron, doesn't need to dominate the ball to have a profound impact on a game. At first I was mulling over who to take, when it suddenly occurred to me: I have back to back picks, why not take BOTH?
