WojYahooNBA The NBA and its players owe him a great debt for the money he made all of them in merchandising and selling the game in China. 25 minutes ago · reply · retweet · favorite
johnhollinger says Yao's retiring. Bummer. Hope China basketball learns from this. Ran him into ground and almost certainly shortened career 25 minutes ago · reply · retweet ·
WojYahooNBA Yao will be remembered for what could've been as a player, but his impact in bridging the Far East and NBA will stand forever. 26 minutes ago · reply · retweet · favorite
Stress fractures are hell on big people. (and if anyone knows, I do!) It's sad that his career couldn't have developed a little more. He missed a little over 200 games in the eight seasons he played in the NBA, I believe there was an entire season involved there, will have to look that one up. The one thing that got him on the wrong foot (no pun intended) was the osteomyelitis problem he had in his left foot early in his NBA career.
But Yao did quite a bit for the NBA as evidenced with the links JL provided regarding publicity and merchandising. (BTW thanks JL!)
Sucks. He was one of my favorite players to watch. Him and Tracy McGrady were a great duo. Sadly, McGrady is slowly declining too. I hope Tracy doesn't retire soon due to his nagging injuries also.
Yao Ming - The most athletic basketball player at his height. The Great Wall. Great FT shooter, good person, and just plain awesome. Enjoy your early retirement.
Slowly declining? Mcrgady has been declining for about 5-6 years now, because of his injuries.
Rapidly declining.
