I voted for Team F. It was a very hard decision.

Comments:

Team A: Great squad, made my head hurt in picking.
Team B: Another tough squad, some very young players that aren't at their peak yet made this a tough call. This may be the best squad as guys like Rose and Howard continue to improve.
Team C: Great starters, bench is one of the weaker ones IMO.
Team D: You arguably have a bench as good as your starters, maybe the best overall selections. Sabonis was a huge steal.
Team E: You have arguably one of the top 2-3 players of all time....on your bench. Start wilt and play dream at the 4.
Team F: You have 3 starters whom at their peak one could argue are as good as anyone that has ever played the position. I'd consider even playing Pippen at the 2 over drexler. I'm giving you the nod as your team is a brutal collection of some of the best 2-way players to ever play thier positions.
i agree with most of your assessment, i have to say you picked the wrong team though HA!

would love my pick back so i could pick my own team oops.

Surely the mods can 'wipe' out your pick upon request, so you can pick your own if you so choose? I figured everyone would pick their own team, as I suspect everyone will think 'their' team is the best.

It would be nice if those who voted would explain exactly why they voted( like Mathguy did). I suspect many will look at the teams, see 'Michael Jordan' and automatically pick that team, without considering fully the merits of each roster.

As far as I know, I cannot edit poll responses, just poll info. The only way to do this would be to delete this thread, and do it over again.

And don't call me shirley.

no worries really.
i know we had all talked about doing like the coaches on the all nba teams and all star players where they are not allowed to vote for for their own players.

i am confident in my team, i feel my team has the versatility to defend all positions and enough scoring pop to handle any situation. it is just to bad we dont have a simulator to actually run them.

i have seen a couple but damn they want like $250 or something to buy the program.

dont worry agent orange, its all good. it is my fault for not verifying before i voted. i also voted for the team i did not based on the starting lineup but more on the team as a whole. i will email the owner of said team and maybe ask him to vote for me out of "good sportsmanship?"

You do have a very good team, particularly defensively. I do question whether you do have enough scoring pop though, it would depend on the matchup. For example with my team, I made sure that the majority of my picks were 2-way players.

I was trying to avoid too many 'specialists' like Rodman and Wallace, though near the end I had considered them both. For example, one could argue that Mourning in his prime provided a comparable interior presence to Ben Wallace, AND can contribute offensively. Russell will contribute defensively and rebounding of course, but how does he match up to Wilt( well based on their battles, we can answer that one). How does he match up to Shaq? Duncan? Kareem?

My main thing is, you got Jordan. I'd have a hard time picking against him in his prime. You can probably take everyone's starters and make good cases for each, the question is ultimately how do the teams stack up as a whole. For example, my second unit is this:

Ewing
Mourning
Pippen
Richmond
West

Plus Dominique for extra scoring pop and Webber's all-around skills as a power forward. Hell in certain scenarios I may even start West and have Payton perform PG duties on the second unit, only adding to an already formidable defensive unit but also having the needed scoring punch while my starters rest.

I may just do that.

I was thinking that the "viewer" could assemble a starting team from the players listed, and our picks were just an idea or guide into a possible lineup.

This was NOT an easy decision. Which team was yours?

There were maybe 3 or so that I REALLY had to kick around for a while.

i built my team in the idea that defense wins rings, along the lines of arguably the best defensive team ever in the 1999 spurs. between jordan, and barkley getting the ball from stockton i expect they could easily put up 90+ as a team, while in theory holding teams in the low 90s, even the mid to upper 80s. i would expect the bigs would be the biggest problem, a guy like shaq would be hard to handle but russell was/is regarded as if not the best center defender, top 2-3 easy. wallace and rodman can give duncan issues if need be. on the other side, barkley was an offensive nightmare of guys like robinson, i would expect him to be tough for just about anyone to defend.
