He won't surpass Larry Bird.

Kobe > James

Lebron and Durant will probably pass him soon after he retires, but still a great accomplishment. He could perhaps live the rest of his life as one of top 10 scorers all time.

Now #10 all time after passing the great Oscar Robertson.

It all depends on injury and just how many more years.

Huge Dirk Nowitzki fan. I think he, along with Tim Duncan, have somewhat quietly put together legendary careers. He was absolutely unstoppable in the 2011 playoffs. He didn't do it with flying baseline dunks, but he just killed it with fade-aways, jumpers, and ball movement. His timing, knowing when to get involved was something straight outta Michael Jordan's playbook.

Well Duncan is widely considered the greatest PF ever but he was never included in GOAT discussions. But what he is doing right now at this age, if the Spurs can cash in with another time....I think he deserves to be in that discussion. I've always had it scored Duncan > Shaq > Kobe. But I wouldn't mind if Kobe were considered above Shaq given O'Neil's sometimes lazy approach.

Dirk is certainty one of a kind. He represents the new progression in the NBA game. He opened the door for guys like Durant. But I was disappointed in his performance following the Title. He celebrated too much that off season which resulted in him being out of shape going into the season, which then forced him to take time off during the season. Inexcusable. He's gotten a raw deal with Maverick's poor free agent signings. Cuban has struck out with every single FA he's targeted and now Dirk is left spending his final seasons battling for the #8 seed.

I think with Dirk and Monta it'll be easier for Cuban to go after a good Center next year. He didn't have a chance at landing Dwight last year and it would've been a bad match anyways. I really don't see Dirk and Dwight having chemistry in the locker room and work ethic.

Charles Barkley on Dirk: Among offensive forwards in history, 'he's right up there with anybody'

[qoute]

"But as far as offensive weapons, he's right up there as one of the greatest offensive forwards to ever play the game. He's a nice man, but he's been great for the city of Dallas. ... But as far as offensive forwards, this guy, he's right up there with anybody who's ever touched a basketball."[/quote]
