Will Dirk catch Wilt for #5 all time? He'd have to average around 15pts for two more seasons.
Will anyone in todays NBA catch Dirk? Lebron most likely, anyone else?

1 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 38,387
2 Karl Malone 36,928
3 KOBE BRYANT 33,375
4 Michael Jordan 32,292
5 Wilt Chamberlain 31,419
6 DIRK NOWITZKI 29,280
7 Shaquille O'Neal 28,596
8 Moses Malone 27,409
9 Elvin Hayes 27,313
10 Hakeem Olajuwon 26,946

#13-15 somewhere in there is my guess. at least if he stops playing international ball. if he doesnt then he is wearing himself down and eating into his longevity. i bet the cubanator LOVES when dirk plays for germany.

he might break the 26k mark but anything that high or more is a stretch IMO.

Just read back through the thread now that its a few years old!

Awe someone still trying to prove dirk is more than a 1 trick pony.

Thanks for thinking of me though

You mean the greatest offensive power forward of this generation? DIRK.

Oh he's decent on his one trick.
21000+ shots in 1328 games.
He's definitely taken the most shots of any PF in the generation.
Now if he knew how to defend, rebound, pass... Maybe he would be higher on the list comparatively with Duncan and KG. Unfortunately, he never did any of those things better than average.

And durant will pass him, lebron too. Curry could if his ankles hold up.
Durant has half as many seasons as Irk and needs about 12000 points.

Dirk took a lot of shots but it's not like he was inefficient. Not a terrible rebounder either considering he played away from the basket. Dirk sorta helped redefine the PF position - pretty much all teams now have or want a good stretch 4.

Really? Redefined? How many teams want/need/have a PF (a real PF, not a SF playing small ball) that shoots 3s?

He wasn't inefficient, but he was not a great rebounder, or passer. He's average at best at both and his defense has always been mediocre at best. Consider that he only averages just shy of 2 rebounds more than Jason Kidd and about 3 more than shumpert.

Correct he's by far the best offensive player of the 3. Obviously you didnt pay much attention. He's not a bad defender either, he really improved and became a decent shot blocker and had better steal numbers than Duncan and barely behind KG. Rebounding was not bad at all especially his playoff stats.

Dirk - playoff stats all time vs KG and Duncan

Dirk - 25.4 pts 10.2 rebounds

KG - 18.2pts 10.7 rebounds

Tim - 21.2 pts 11.7 rebounds

Best playoff year stats for each:

Dirk - 28.4 pts 13.1 rebs - plus he's outside far more than those guys!
Tim - 27.6pts 15.4 rebs
KG - 27.0pts 18.7 rebs

He did redefine the PF position. The big back 'em down PF's dont really exist much anymore. Dirk was the first of his kind and is a unique talent.

Still averaging over 18pts game, where Duncan and KG are completely done as offensive players.

I like all three guys, no need to tear any of them down.

All 3 have rings.
Dirk has a finals MVP.
Duncan is regarded as the better of the 3 but all of them are easy first ballot HOF'ers.

Um, Duncan and KG are both about 2years older.

All three remained very effective for a long long time with Duncan in particular still making an all-nba team in recent years.
