I agree with Stern that a 50-50 split is reasonable------I think maybe the owners can compromise a bit more on the D League and luxury tax.

The players have gotten a bit carried away with their notoriety----the agents have also been a huge negative factor here----nothing like self serving agents carrying a big stick during this ordeal----a hug joke.

What do the players want here-----7 franchises in New York, 5 in LA, and 4 in Chicago???? Let them lose the season----I think the public reaction has reached the who cares state.

I think the players are going to end up being the losers here. The owners can sit on this and wait as long as they want. What would the players know about running an NBA business anyway? I like Derek Fisher, and I understand he's doing this as a player and trying to show solidarity, but this is just stupid. Even a 50/50 deal is still a good one for them. I could sympathize with the union if this were about retirement, player safety, and other quality of life issues; but this is about revenue splits and it doesn't seem to be about much else.

This is just a sheer guess, but I'm thinking that unless they can get an agreement within the next two weeks, the whole season is toast. After the agreement is reached, I would think it would take a month for the players to get ready. If you try to go straight into playing the season, you're risking a horrific injury rate as players won't be in game shape, not to mention a god-awful caliber of play due to the lack of prep time.

Out of interest, what month did they reach a agreement back in 1999, when they had the 50 game shortened schedule?

They reached an agreement in January.

As far as the players and owners are concerned I couldn't care less if the whole season is cancelled(next year too), the only people I feel for are those that depend on the games for their jobs, the restaurants, bars, workers in the arenas, etc..

I felt the same way about the baseball strike years ago, when they settled and everyone cheered, I groaned.

Why should the players get ANY cut of the team's revenues? They are under contract to play for $$ a year, that should be it.

Kobe signed a 3 year extension worth about 90million. I'd like to be a fly on the wall hearing him and Fisher talk.

"Um, Fish....you guys are going to cost me $30million...."

I'd be REALLY angry if I were a MAV's fan. They aren't getting younger and this is their chance to repeat.

I used to like NBA basketball...back in the days when it was actually a team game. Once it devolved into Fill in the Blank and his No-Name Backups, well, let's just say that I won't lose any sleep if this season is lost.

The game I see on the NBA court is a different game than I learned back in school.
Like I said; NO sympathy from me, not even any empathy.
