On a side note I was reading that players signed to Chinese teams are not going to be able to get out of their contracts. This really hurts Denver with Kmart, chandler, and jr smith all signed in china. The only play that will be allowed to go back to the nba is YI!
They still have Nene and Birdman, right?

Yeah, that'll probably be tough.

Remember when he shot Denver out of the playoffs a couple years ago?

People remember Iverson's 15-30 games for 35pts and a win. They forget the other two games where he shot 9-30 and they lost by 20pts. both times.

Perhaps the worst player to ever win the MVP....certainly in the bottom 2.
Hey when Iverson had such great players such as Eric Snow and Erin Mckee around who did you expect to shoot the ball?
Iverson is a clear Hall of Famer.

right now the nugs have andre miller, al harrington, birdman, danilo galanari, tim mozgof, koufus, and ty lawson under contract with chandler, afflalo, and forbes waiting on qualifying offers.

if they get all their qualifying offer players back thats 10 they need 3 more players just to make the league minimum but the bright side of that, their payroll is only 28.8 mil so they have PLENTY of money to sign some players. i dont hear or see them on any bigger names radar, almost everyone wants to go to either the bulls, the heat, the knicks, followed up by the lakers and spurs from everything i read. (i tend to read mostly spurs sites and spurs content so im not getting ALL the free agents chatter.)

Absolutely.

He also had flashes of brilliance and clearly played with a lot of heart. To be completely clear, he will absolutely make the HOF.

However, he was absolutely maddening in his shot selection and refusal to adapt leading to the removal of great coaches unable to reach the diva.

To put it another way, Iverson played his whole career like Kobe did the year or so after Shaq left. Had Kobe not settled down and learned to work within a system and get his teamates involved etc. he never would have attained his current legacy.

Yes, he is a clear hall of famer.

However, you might want to look what he did in the playoffs to Denver and where he destroyed the US olympic basketball team by "taking over".

People have been making excuses for Iverson, he had the talent just not the attitude to reach his full potential. Kinda like D Coleman who had the talent etc. but not the work ethic.

The more I think about it, the more I think the work stoppage and short season were a big big advantage for the Mavs to potentially repeat.

1) They are an older, veteran team with years together that needed the extra rest.
2) The younger up and coming rivals will not have as much room in free-agency to fill holes.
3) Miami and Chicago, the biggest threats out of the east will have 20 fewer games to continue to develop their cohesion.

Many bench players will get alot of playing time this season without a doubt. There will be 42 back-to-back-to-back games this season. The older teams like the Mavs, Celts, and Lakers will definitely have to pace themselves. The Nuggets will play 5 games in 6 nights during a stretch starting in January and they will be w/o three of their players who are still playing in China. Toronto also at one point will be playing 5 games in 6 nights. Expect some sloppy games in the beginning. The Heat better pick up some good bench players or their starters will be worn out by playoff time....lol

Something I'm finding interesting, Dallas is so worried about getting under the salary cap (they want to sign d-will next season really bad) that they are likely letting chandler, barea, and butler go, they apparently are not planning on resigning terry or Stevenson. In other words they have never worried about salary caps before and now they are do worried about it they are willing to throw away instrumental pieces to their one title just to get under the cap.

Crazy!

Don't they HAVE to get under their cap though? I feel like I'm in a fog as to how strict some of this is.

Anyone seen a good summary of the new cap environment out there?

Wondering if some guys like Dirk, Kobe etc. might rework thier deals to keep things flowing. Dirk winning championships probably puts more endorsement money in his pocket that a salary cut.
