It's not a pipe dream. The Bulls have A LOT of depth to trade and still remain an attractive team on which to play.

Gutting your team to get Dwight (ie. Knicks) isn't going to get him to stay there.

Who would they have to give up for him?

You can package any type of Noah/Taj/Deng/Asik option for him Im sure, but I don't see the bulls doing that for a rent-a-player situation.

I might be misremembering, but I feel like it's known that Howard won't do a sign and trade and wants to hit free agency. I think you can make more money that way under the new agreement right?

2 scenarios: (correct me if I'm wrong)

1) They sign-and trade Dwight now.

2) Dwight goes FA but can only get the big money if he signs with his own team. So, whomever he wants to go to would still have to throw something to Orlando to get them to play ball with a sign-and-trade but it is generally A LOT less than in scenario #1.

The Bulls can obviously give Noah and gain...while Orlando gets a strong defensive center....better than a Tyson Chandler. Giving up Deng would hurt badly....but Gibson could go and not hurt the bench badly enough to matter. After that the Bulls could chuck draft picks in.

However, that may not be enough and they may want Deng along with Noah and Gibson but IMO....I wouldn't do that deal since you would be giving up IMO maybe the 5th best SF and Centers in the league (give or take) to get Dwight and a very good bench player.

IF Dwight can go FA and the Bulls can get away with giving up Noah and maybe an Asik or brewer then yeah....that's a win.

You have to think Dwight has learned from the Melo situation that gutting the team you are going to isn't going to make your life sweet.

So, he waits for FA then has Orlando over a barrell where they might get nothing for him and then the Bulls (or another team) can just offer maybe a Noah and draft picks and call it good.

If that happens, the Miami Heat would drop a collective load in their shorts.

As a Orlando Magic and Dwight Howard supporter... give me Noah, Brewer, Gibson and a 1st rounder for Dwight and Q-Rich!

That's actually not a bad trade for both parties. I suspect that the Magic would want to use the trade to jettison Turkgolus contract too but that might be a deal breaker. (Not dogging on the guy, he just has an albatross cotnract)

The Heat fans heads would explode.

The way the Bulls go after rebounds and having to fight guys like Boozer, Deng and even Rose for them....wonder how many Noah would have playing for a scrub team.

You saying Magic is a scrub team?

Magic roster if they do the Howard/Q-Rich for Noah/Brewer/Gibson/1st rnd draft pick trade:
PG: Nelson, Duhon, Hughes
SG: Richardson, Redick, Wafer
SF: Turkoglu, Brewer, Clark
PF: Anderson, Gibson, Harper
C: Noah, Davis, Orton
