There are tons of them actually, but it's not *big news*. Olympic gymnastics coach? Then there have been a number of problems with volleyball coaches....just google "womans volleyball coach accused".

It's like if some big name NFL player gets a DUI etc. it might make national news while if it's some AAA baseball player....it won't make it past the local paper.

I still think it's funny that the only thing keeping Boheim from instant firing by accusing the abuse victims is the fact that Syracuse wins basketball games. Ditto for the whole Paterno thing....it was about winning games.

If syracuse had a program in the dumps they'd have used it as an excuse to fire Boheim.
Had Penn State gone into a tail spin and spent 5-6 years at the bottom of the conference they would have force retired Paterno back then.

It's really that pathetically sad, but if you are winning you are largely bullet proof. That's where the fans and boosters are really nauseating....what they are willing to have done in order to be *winners* makes them huge *losers* in my eyes.

I really don't get why the students of that college protested when that coach was fired. How were they able to ignore what he did? Oops, just answered my own question. They loved him so much they just didn't beleive he was capable of doing that.

They've bought in bigtime to the success of the program....which due to his tenure and success was clearly evidenced by Joe Paterno.

While many penn state alum\fans have correctly been appalled by the scandal....there is a contingent more upset about how it's going to impact their football program than the fact that these kids were abused. Those people need some sort of psychiatric help....but trust me, I know a few people who will be in bad moods for days, scream at their TV etc. because their team lost.

Penn State fans should not be angry over Bill O'Brien hiring - Andy Staples - SI.com
