I have no love for Lebron but he is one of the games best pure athletes.

It's hard to say that any one player is the best, especially accounting for all eras. However, he is definitely in a class with Wilkins, Dr. Jay, (early) Kemp, Carter, McGrady, etc.

Personally, I think he's another reincarnation of Dr. Jay. Physically dominant, makes the game look easy, and great around the rim, but that's where it stops. He does have great court vision but I don't know if that's more skill or just that his physical presence creates more openings than for the average player and his lack of a perimeter game forces him to look to pass.

His one big drawback is that he's very awkward when moving laterlly. He's great up and down the court but ball handling and rythm sideline to sideline is just painful to watch.

Lebron is a hell of a athlete, but I'm still not sold on him yet althought he has been impressing in the past few games. Is he more athletic than Jordan? No, but for his size, he is very athletic. Jordan was definitely faster than lebron. Also, Jordan had the quickness that athletes dream about; His first step was deadly. And this is comparing him to people like Lebron, D wade, Iverson, Kode, D rose, Chris Paul and many others.

Kobe's athleticism is very average in my opinion.

Genes are probably the biggest factor in athleticism and God didn't start making good genes in 1979. There have always been great athletes. Always will be.

However, I think the average NBA player is more athletic today. Jordan definitely would have had it tougher. I mean, did Craig Ehlo really stand any chance whatsoever of blocking his shot in that playoff game? Replace Ehlo with Richard Jefferson or any number of great athlete/average-skill ball players and that whole play sequence would have probably been completely different.
I have to disagree with you on this. I really don't agree that the NBA is more athletic today than it was before. And i think MJ would dominate more in today's league since the league has gotten too soft (No handchecking, a defensive 3-seconds) the league is a shell of it's former self. Also, lets not say if jordan played in this era because it would be waaaayyyyy too easy for him, but lets put kobe and lebron in jordan era. Do you think they could stand up against the knicks or the pistons of the 80's & 90's. the NBA was basically football without pads back then, and even still, MJ made it look too easy.

MJ is the greatest. LBJ could surpass MJ if he works really hard but i doubt he has the discipline to do so.
