MVP is going to come down to Rose and Durant at this rate...with Durant the likely winner.
Interesting argument RE: Rose winning MVP again. The fact that the Bulls might have the best record in the league again, and D Rose will likely NOT have another all star as a teammate (latest projection has Deng on the out). Can you say that about anyone else? Sure Durant's Thunder will end up with a ton of wins, but he was Westbrook...LeBron? Well he has 2 other AS starting caliber players. Is Rose better than Durant as an all around player? No, but he just might be more valuable to his team.

I think there is too much politicking as far as the MVP goes for Rose to win back to back, but it's something that is more possible than I had previously thought.

If the definition of MVP is 'who's most valuable to their team's succes', than Rose has an excellent case for MVP again. Lebron, as dominant as he is, the Heat without him are 4-5 seed. Wade and Bosh & co are easily a 50+ win team. OKC without Durant is maybe a 7th seed out west, depending on who they replaced Durant with. The Bulls on the other hand, have a lot of 'good' players but they are all complimentary, including Boozer and Deng. Take Rose off that team, they're maybe a 7th seed as well, 6th tops( and again depends on who's playing in Rose's place)? Either way, Lebron is the best out of the trio, but there's a good argument to be made that Rose and Durant are more crucial to their teams being 'elite'.

I started a "Durant will win MVP" thread and went over how the award is generally given out and the impact on vote splitting as well as the popularity component.

Basically if you are the big dog on a team that finishes with the best record in the NBA....you have a *Really* good chance of winning it. Barring anything screwy occurring that will likely be OKC or the Bulls finishing with the best record and by default that means Rose or Durant. I think it would be Durant though since Rose won last year.

Yeah, that's the funny thing about the MVP voting....each voter likely has their own criteria.

Obviously MVP voting results aren't always fair.

If you use the metric that both OKC and Chicago would be, say, 7th seeds in their conferences without Rose/Durant, then I'd say it would come down to who the voters feel had the better overall individual season( and of course team record factors in).

The one thing I can say about the Sixers is they only struggle against the good teams in the West. They beat the crap out of all the eastern teams but I can't say the same for Miami.

Starting this weekend, the Sixers are going to be on the road alot from now till season's end. They've enjoyed a favorable schedule so far. What does that mean for you? Don't get too excited just yet.
